HIV/AIDS is a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that weakens a person's immune system. Early testing and diagnosis of HIV/AIDS is important as it allows for early treatment to maintain a person's immune system, decreases the risk of mother-to-child transmission, and provides opportunities for education to reduce high-risk behaviors. Those most at risk for HIV infection include females aged 25 or younger who are of African or Hispanic descent.
