Introduction:
The Carter’s company is the largest marketer of children and babies clothing in the
United States and Canada. Recently, this company has expanded its technological support system
in its retail stores, and this expansion has vastly helped the efficiency of many stores. In order to
continually grow and develop in the expanding market, however, this corporation needs a more
advanced inventory system:
“When our store first opened, we received thirty of the same style of shorts in the same
size. It took us two years to sell through them. This is not an isolated incident.
Sometimes our stock room looks like a mess because the allocation department does
not know what we need.” -Anja Woodham, Store 853.
The extensive changes that are taking place are helpful, but in order to stay competitive in the
virtual market as well as the physical market, Carter’s needs to solve this problem with
allocation. Another employee stated:
“We went weeks without replenishment in size 6x girl’s underwear. Customers would
come in week after week asking if we had any, and we had to turn them away. The
online store was out of stock as well, but in store we have no way of communicating
with the inventory department.” -Zahra Sikandari, Store 853.
Losing sales is not an option. In order for Carter’s to remain at the top of the market, it must
make some changes. A large part of the appeal of the Carter’s store is excellent customer service
and a positive customer experience, but with this problem remaining an issue, that appeal is hard
to maintain.
Features
BizSlate is the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solution. Carter’s would
avoid missing a sale or the loyalty of a customer as a result of being out of stock of a product.
With BizSlate, those sales would be guaranteed no matter the store’s inventory. Inventory
management helps to reduce any excess cost that Carter’s may have as a result of overstocking,

BizSlate is a web and cloud-based system, so there is no need for costly hardware in the
office. The system also allows for remote access from multiple locations around the world. Users
can view inventory, invoices, and current orders whether at home, in the office, or at a
tradeshow. One BizSlate user, Joy Chen, states that the “email invoices, cost updates, ability to
receive factory purchase orders, and view available inventory so that he does not oversell, falls in
line with his business moto, work smarter, not harder.”
Not only will BizSlate help Carter’s reach its full potential by keeping customers satisfied
and expenses minimal, BizSlate is also user friendly. Diana Hanrahan, a Finance Manager for
Niermann Week Co Inc. describes BizSlate by saying, “The learning curve is almost nil. It is
very intuitive and easy to use.” Upon upgrading to the system, Carter’s will gain access to online
training tutorials that will show employees how to utilize all of the system’s features. The
BizSlate staff is professional, knowledgeable, and delivers answers to any questions or concerns
in a timely fashion. The system would be perfect for any small to medium sized wholesale
business marketing clothing, accessories, footwear, hardware, house ware, consumer goods, etc.
Any business wanting to manage inventory, obtain maximum efficiency, and reduce excess cost
would benefit from BizSlate.
Data
BizSlate offers its services for $79 per month for small businesses. The fee would increase for a
large corporation, but also offers demonstrations to try out for free. BizSlate would also install
and lead tutorials for the corporation at no additional charge. BizSlate prevents costly
overstocking, and the danger of under stocking. Additionally, the ease of access and convenience
to view and manage orders and inventory from anywhere is vital to remain competitive. Over the
last quarter, Carter’s sales have increased by six percent and overall income has increased by
eight percent. With that increase in profit, the BizSlate software could easily be installed in many
branches (see Figure 1).

Conclusion
BizSlate would be dedicated to making Carter’s transition as easy and simple as possible.
Our team would be thrilled to meet up with the allocation department and discuss plans to keep
up with the competition. Efficiency and cost are important factors when considering
transitioning, but more importantly, BizSlate would like to ensure that Carter’s employees and
