Salina introduces the archaeologist who found Caiaphas tomb
and possible crucifixion nails.
SALINA:
Hello, it’s Salina and you are on
with history talks. Everyone
Welcome the archeologist.
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
Thank you so much for having me on
the show.
SALINA:
It’s a pleasure to have you.
Now archaeologist tell us a little
about yourself.
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
I am an archaeologist from Israel.
SALINA:
How fascinating. I have heard that
you and several other archeologists
have found Caiaphas’s tomb. Is that
correct?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
Well, it wasn’t just Caiaphas’s
ossuary. It’s said to be the
families. The ossuary was found
when construction workers were
building a water theme park right
outside of Jerusalem. A few
archaeologists and myself went done
to investigate. And inside the
tomb was some pottery and two
nails.
SALINA:
For all our viewers out there who
don’t know who Caiaphas is would
you care to elaborate?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
Of course. “Caiaphas was the Jewish
high priest who presided over
Jesus Christ’s trial and
crucifixion” (“Caiaphas”).
In the Bible,Matthew 26:57-75
talks about Caiaphas and Jesus’s
interaction. Caiaphas is the one who
sent Jesus to the Romans to get crucified.

SALINA:
And his ossuary was the one you
found correct or just his families’ tomb?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
Yes there is actually two that we
found. We believe it is his and his
son.
SALINA:
Could you tell me a little more
about this finding? Is there any
evidence you have that let’s us
know for certain that this is the
true tomb of Caiaphas?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
Well, on the outside of the ossuary
there “were inscriptions “Caiaphas”
and “Joseph son of Caiaphas’” (Chabin. Inside the ossuary
was of course bones. There was some nails
also found in the tomb...
The archaeologist was cut off before continuing..
SALINA:
Now Simcha Jacobovici believes that
the two nails that were found in
the cave along with the ossuary had
something to do with Jesus’s
crucifixion. Do you believe that
the two nails have anything to do
with it?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
It’s hard to tell. There are so
many factors that proves why the
nails couldn’t possibly be part of
Jesus’s crucifixion or any others,
but why else would there be nails?
The nails that were found were 3
inches long. Some say that isn’t
long enough to pin someone’s hands
onto the cross and still hold them
up. I personally don’t think it’s
long enough. But Simcha has a good
explanation to why else would the
nails be in there. He doesn’t want
to over look the nails because he
believes they may have be
significant. He uses a boxer for
example. If there were a pair of

boxing gloves in the tomb with a
famous boxer, he says, we most
certainly could over look that
because boxing gloves are common.
It would make sense to why Caiaphas
would want them in the tomb
anyways. Maybe to show his
"victory" against Jesus. All we
know is that there are some nails
that are in the ossuary with
Caiaphas.
SALINA:
I can tell how hard that can be.
All that people want is answers. In
your opinion, would we ever find
the answer to this?
ARCHAEOLOGIST:
No, I think what we have is what we
have. I don’t think we can further
the investigation.
SALINA:
