Chromebook is Google's cloud-based notebook that launched in 2009, providing full network application services through its always-online Chrome browser-based interface. The concept focused on remaining in standby but ready for use, without including much local storage as documents and data were stored in the cloud. Some developers received early Chromebook test machines called CR-48, but the product was still in development stages and not yet mature for wide consumer use.
