Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by a group of activists in Vancouver with a vision of a green and peaceful world. It is now an international organization with 2.8 million supporters and 41 country offices that runs global environmental campaigns. Some of Greenpeace's victories include halting US nuclear testing in Alaska in 1972, stopping grey seal slaughter in Scotland in 1978, and adopting an international whaling moratorium in 1982.
