How to search for books in the ECDHS Library Catalogue.

2. We sear ch using “HIP”
 Horizon Information Portal is a web-based
way to search CKSS’s book collection
 Access is available from school or home:
@ school - dedicated search computers
@ home - go to the CKSS Library Web Site
& click on the search link.

 Reminds you you’re searching CKSS
 Opens at the “Home” tab

Offers a general keyword search from “Home”:
Enter keyword(s) in search box
Click on red arrow beside box

Results
 View number of results & titles
 “Limit” or “Sort” results if desired

 Click on title of book you want to find,
or click on “Next” to see further results pages

 After clicking the book title, scroll down to
“Copy/Holding information”
 If checked in, you can find the book in the
specified “Collection” using the “Call No.”

9. Other Sear ch Types:
 To search by some way other than a general
keyword, click on the “Search” tab
 “Basic” search is the default; you may also
select “Advanced”

10. Basic Sear ch:
 Use the pull-down menu to select search type
 Enter text in the box; click on the red arrow

11. Advanced Sear ch:
 Enter text in box of choice; click on red arrow

12. Advanced Sear ch:
 Choose multiple, local search locations if desired

13. Advanced Sear ch:
 Choose collection limits and sorting order if desired:

14. Repeat!
 Be sure to try several
searches with different
subjects, keywords, and
keyword combinations until
you find what you need
