including the ability to track, match, and monitor Intercompany balances at a transaction level.
This helps you avoid double maintenance and data transfer. It provides you with an efficient
way to identify, report, and reconcile Intercompany account differences.
The key features of the Intercompany Transactions module include:
● Ability to capture the Intercompany transaction details at the invoice level.
● Ability to match the transactions at the invoice level.
● Ability to match the transactions in the Transaction Currency as well as the Reporting or
Parent currency or through translation-on-the-fly.
● Ability to drill down from the existing Intercompany Matching Report (account balance
level) to the transaction detail level.
● Ability to view an entity’s partner’s intercompany transaction details with the entity at any
time.
● Ability to enter text comments at any level of matching to help resolve mismatching.

Intercompany Transactions Module 5
10. Task Automation
Task Automation is a new Web-based module that provides you with a method for chaining
together a series of tasks into a taskflow. You can use Task Automation to automate tasks that
you commonly perform using Hyperion Financial Management.
When you work with Hyperion Financial Management, you routinely perform tasks such as
loading data, running calculations and translations, consolidating parent entities and
extracting data through data extract or extended analytics. A taskflow is a sequence of tasks
that you can create in Task Automation. Any user defined with the Task Automation role can
access, create and maintain taskflows to perform required Hyperion Financial Management
operations.
The following Hyperion Financial Management activities are available in Task Automation:
● Allocate
● Calculate
● Translate
● Consolidate
● Calculate contribution
● Load Journals
● Extract Journals
● Load Data
● Extract Data
● Execute Journal Action
● Extended Analytics
For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management User’s Guide.
Point of View Filtered by Security
Hyperion Financial Management introduces metadata filtering based on security in the Point
of View and in Web data grids. Filtering the display of metadata facilitates navigation in large
applications and enables you to keep certain metadata information confidential.
There are two new application attributes to activate this feature:
● EnableMetadataSecurityFiltering
● EnableICPfiltering
The following dimensions are applicable for security filtering based on the security class
assigned to each member: Scenario, Entity, Account, and C1 to C4. The metadata filtering on
the ICP dimension cannot be based on the security classes applied to the ICP members because
the ICP dimension is a system-generated dimension based on the IsICP attribute set for the
Entity dimension. It is based on the security class assigned to “SecurityasPartner” in the Entity
dimension.
6 Hyperion Financial Management New Features
11. Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces a new security right called Metadata that
enables end users to view the metadata members in the hierarchy but with a None access right
regarding the data attached to those members.
Figure 3 Sample Web Point of View
Note that users have implied access to the parent and ancestors of any member to which they
have been granted access. This means that users see those ancestors and parents in a
hierarchical tree structure but are not able to access them.
HFM 4.0 Metadata filtering supports Organization by Period setting. When the Org by Period
setting is specified for the Entity list enumeration, the system checks the Active account value
for the Parent/Child node to determine whether the entity is active for the given
Scenario/Year/Period.
For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management Administrator’s Guide.
Administration and Compliance Enhancements
The following administration and compliance enhancements have been added in this release.
Consolidation Progress Bar and Running Tasks
The Running Tasks module enables the administrator or the end user to gauge the progress of
Consolidation, Data Loads, or Extended Analytics.
Administration and Compliance Enhancements 7
12. For example, when a consolidation starts, the consolidation progress bar is automatically
displayed in a separate window. Information on the Point of View, the user and time are also
available. The consolidation progress bar feature enables you to perform another task while the
consolidation is running without starting a new session.
The Running Tasks module also enables you to stop tasks in progress.
For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management Administrator’s Guide.
