What is DISH
addressing?
4. The Erasmus+ DISH project is addressing the challenge of the innovation
and digital skills' gap of the healthcare staff by establishing a triple helix
partnership consisting of healthcare providers, educational institutions
and health clusters in each of the 6 countries piloting the project's
results to work with the triple helix skills approach.

What do we know from the DISH needs
analysis and the scoping review?
• Many digital solutions are not used to their
full potential
• Staff is in need of concrete ”hands-on” skills in
order to use and implement the solutions in
their daily work
• Contextualised training is seldom provided as
it seems complex and timeconsuming to plan

hands on training as well as acknowledgment of skills
and competences manageable

8. Where did the idea
come from? –
Research prior to this project
• A 2016 background analysis of healthcare
staff skills in the 4 southern municipalities
in the Region of Southern Denmark.
• The analysis covered the primary sector
(nursing care homes, GPs), the
secondary sector (hospitals) and
educational institution (nurses and health
care workers) to assess eHealth
competencies

It can be described as an internal “co-
creation unit”, which fosters
multidisciplinary collaboration, “out of
the box” thinking and team learning,
and the objectives of the unit will be;
• To stimulate explorative behaviour;
• To support implementation and
change management processes;
• To support competence/skills
development and capacity building
in a team rather than at individual
level;
• To enhance collaboration between
healthcare professionals and
enterprises, ensuring a better
understanding of mutual needs.

Underlying philosophy for the dialogue and
collaboration in the LIU
15. What is the overall aim of the concept
- to respond to the feeling of urgency
- ensure that decisions that were taken in the LIU are included in the training,
- ensure that the training is planned, organized and executed in a structured way
responding to the needs
What is skills’ training?
- Acquiring and/or improving a set of new or complex skills (digital innovation,
eHealth skills) with the purpose of delivering improved service, through participation
in hands-on practical exercises in a secure environment, without running the risk of
disturbing or harming the patient.
Acknowledgement
- Ensuring acknowledgement of competences and skills obtained outside the official
educational system
Concept for on-the-job SKILLS training
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme
of the European Union
16. 1) Training should be process-oriented, i.e. the health professional receives the training
in the situation with is as close to their everyday work as possible and is related to
the performance of a certain task or job. As we are dealing with the health care
sector (and patients) is it important that the training takes place in a secure
environment.
2) Activity-based and authentic learning, i.e. solutions that support the effective
transfer of knowledge created within the training into the work domain.
3) Recognizing individual and organizational learning motives and constraints and
integrating previous knowledge and experiences,
4) Enhancing the learning competence of individuals, groups and organizations by
supporting the development of learning strategies,
5) Identifying a relevant assessment method and process that is based on the
demonstration principle (e.g. in a simulation environment).

Underlying model for the skills training
19. 1) To assess that the health care professionals obtain the expected knowledge, skills
and comptences through their active participation in the LIU activities and on-the-
job skills training.
2) To ensure that learnes who carry through on-the-job skills training receive an
acknowledgement of their obtained skills, which can support their internal and
external job mobility
3) To ensure continuing evaluation and assessment of the quality and relevance of
the on-the-job skills training
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme
of the European Union
Overall aim of the Concept of Assessment
20. 1) Assessment should be planned as an integrated part of the training (as showed in
the Activity model)
2) Closely linked to concrete on-the-job training courses
3) At least partly digital (e.g. involve the use of technology. An example could be to
use a phone to make a video that demonstrate the use of a technology. Another
example could be to use an on-line assessment tool)
4) Makes sense for the trainee/person
5) Makes sense for the actual employee category
6) Provides a valid foundation for assessment
7) Transparency
8) Encouraged but voluntary
9) Mode-neutral (be accessed from phone, Ipad, computer, 'paper-version’
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme

The Process and requirements of Assessment
21. The tool should be chosen so that it fits the concrete training activities, such as
1) Portfolio as the basis of the assessment process
2) Self assessment or group assessment
3) In-Situ assessment (interview peers, explanation and video recordining)
4) On-line assessment solutions
5) Validation can be made through an acknowledged organisation in the individual
countries
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme
of the European Union
Assessment tools and validation
22. Testing on 100 staff in each country in 6 different settings
1. LIU Meetings as preparation
2. On the job training:
a) Only 12 participants – the “hands- on” issue
b) Typical 3-5 hours
c) Multidisciplinary
d) Cross sectoral
3. Assessment during and after the training
