–assisted suicide.

Throughout all levels of American politics incumbents running for reelection have a huge and systematic advantage over their challengers. In this
paper, the incumbency advantage will be examined through the lens of James "Jim" McDermott's continual reelection in Washington's 7th
Congressional District and Sharpe James, the longtime mayor of Newark. James' incumbency advantage is especially interesting in the context of 2002
mayoral campaign, where he was nearly unseated by Cory Booker. Both McDermott and James served their constituents for over 30 years and
developed sizable incumbency advantages, though in some cases they were used in different ways. Looking at the differences demographically
between Newark and Washington's 7th Congressional District can be striking, but if instead the incumbency advantage is considered, the similarities
are wide reaching and fascinating. In this paper, six major elements of incumbency advantage will be looked at: name recognition, party advantage,

All Asian Americans are good at math, or at least that's what I heard. They are also good at anything involving technology, science, and medicine.
They study all the time, work really hard and live a version of the American dream I never thought to dream of. Afterall they're Asian, their parents
wouldn't allow for anything less. In his article "The Harmful Myth of Asian Superiority" the ethnic studies expert Ronald Takaki writes about the idea
that Asian Americans are more successful than other American minority groups. Takaki refutes this idea using reason and statistics to show that Asian
Americans still face some of the same hardships and barriers as every other racially defined group in America. Takaki's word choice allows him
manipulate statistics for his purpose of disproving the myth of model minority. The words Takaki choses to use in his article both strengthen his ethos
as an educated Japanese American writer and weaken his argument against the model minority in terms of both logos and pathos. The cunning use of
words in paragraph ten allows Takaki to raise his reader's concern for the well–being of Asian refugees while remaining rather vague about whether or

Growing up in such a majorly diversified city, and having attended public schools all of my life, I barely encountered racism of any sort. It was
something that was not discussed often in my home or anywhere else, outside of my knowledge of slavery's history in America or what I've seen in
movies. Having friends and family from so many different countries, backgrounds, and ethnicities, it was tough relating to any direct form of

Analysis Of The Movie ' Miracle On Ice ' By Gavin O ' Conner
Every hockey player has heard the soundbite of Al Michaels shouting "Do you believe in Miracles? Yes!" after the 1980 American team took down the
international powerhouse of the Soviet Union. During a time of uneasiness and frustration towards the current political climate, the young American
hockey team gave the public something to be proud about. A true "miracle on ice" gave the country a strong presence within the hockey world. Going
into the game against the Soviets in the semifinals of the 1980 Olympic games, Herb Brooks gave one of the most inspirational speeches known to
date. This speech was portrayed word for word in the Disney film, Miracle, released in 2004 directed by Gavin O'Conner. Although Herb Brooks'
rhetoric sounds as if he is referencing the Cold War, that did not seem to be the case. Herb's rhetoric seemed to be solely hockey driven: his
significant playing and coaching career as well as his astonishing dedication to the game uncover his motivation prior to the miracle game. Close
analysis and research reveals Herb and his players have rejected many attempts of being used as a political pawn after defeating Russia in the miracle
on ice. This victory indeed boosted the nation's spirits regarding the war, but the game had little to no impact on the outcome between the two
governments.
The scene starts with the young American squad sits quietly around the dressing room knowing they are the underdog and may be playing the last
game of their Olympic career.

In 1735, there was a lady named Deborah Leeds who lived wither husband, Daniel, in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Mrs. Leeds was the mother
of twelve children. "Daniel was a good provider for his family but was often absent and not very helpful when it came to the responsibilities of
taking care of the children" (McCloy, Miller). Mrs. Leeds was having her thirteenth child. Having that many children to look after was, as I could
only imagine, very difficult. While giving birth, in a moment of weakness, Mrs. Leeds said, "I hope this one is not a child, I hope it is a devil"
(McCloy, Miller). When the child was born everything seemed to be fine. But then something went horribly wrong. It is said that "the child, in

I Hear America Singing Analysis
Walt Whitman's famous poem "I Hear America Singing" is a very patriotic poem about the beautiful songs that American workers make as they
put their heart and soul into the job that they do. This is not really a literal song that they sing out loud, but it's more a song made out of the noises
that they create when they work, like hammering things, cutting wood, or sewing. All of those noises by themselves make a particular song, but
all together they make an even larger song about what it means to be a hardworking American. Langston Hughes also addresses this topic when he
wrote his poem "I, Too, Sing America". Langston Hughe's poem focused only on one person though, "the darker brother", rather than all of the
workers of America. In his poem, Langston Hughes, builds opon Whitmans idea of hard work Americans. In Whitman's poem, he lists various
occupations and the song of each of those workers. For example, he says "The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, The mason
singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work". Analyzing these examples shows that each person is singing his own song about his own
job. He emphasizes each person "singing what belongs to him or her and to none else", so each person has their own song for the job that they do. All

Alexander Hamilton Hamilton was man who had everything going against him since the beginning. Unlike many of the other Founding Fathers, he
did not have a privileged background. Hamilton was the only founder born outside the American colonies. He was an immigrant who had many

My Learning Experience
In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your family is hard, but can be done by having a strong
relationship with people and good friends. Moving multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the outcome
and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be overcome and can be viewed as a learning experience. Being

In the capitalist–driven society of the United States, there is a constant impetus towards expansion, investment, and maximization of profits. While this
system has helped the US become one of the wealthiest countries in the world it has also contributed to a widening gap between the wealthiest and
poorest members of society. This essay will examine two of the poorest populations in theUnited States, the Central Appalachian region of Kentucky
and the population in Camden, New Jersey through the lens of two 20/20 segments reported by Diane Sawyer: "Waiting on the World to Change" and

There is much preservation throughout this country. One that is most famous to New Jersey is the Pine Barrens. I don't believe this bio diverse
ecosystem should be developed on. This precious preservation should be saved. In these following paragraphs the author will discuss the animals

Compare And Contrast Langston Hughes And I Hear America...
Langston Hughes wrote a poem that some believe is in response to a poem Walt Whitman made. Walt Whitman's poem "I hear America Singing"
is basically a description of the people who made up America at the time. The mothers, the carpenters, the masons, the shoemakers, the wood
cutters, etc, were all the different types of people that made up what America, said of the poem. With Langston Hughes's poem "I, Too, Sing
America", the poem is making a sort of claim that Hughes's and blacks alike also have a right to feel patriotic towards and be a part of America.
Both poems are pretty similar to what they're subject is (America), but they are quite different when it comes to what exactly the two poems are
mainly focusing on. Hughes's poem builds on top of Whitman's poem in more ways than one. Every single person with their described job in
Whitman's poem was said to have been sung loud and strong as to what they were doing when working, meaning that they took pride in how they
worked and what kind of work they did. With how there's so many types of people and jobs being talked about in Whitman's poem, you would think
it would include the lives of blacks and how they have dealt with all the racism and stuff at the time (later on too). Hughes's poem is a type of add–on
to Whitman's poem in the way of including the whole of black people into the mix, with many lines in the poem stating things of which overall say
that even if you're black you should still be allowed to partake in things and be in an area without any prejudice towards your skin color.
Hughes's poem is more of an argument against that of the people (whites) back then who were prejudice against blacks. With the first couple of
lines of "I, Too, Sing America", the lines mean that even if he is sent to the "kitchen" when "company" comes, he'll still laugh and eat well and grow
stronger from the experience, not really seeing it as if it were bad but more of a motivation to stop it from happening again. When coming to the lines
of "Tomorrow, I'll be at the table When company comes. Nobody'll dare Say to me, "Eat in the Kitchen," Then", the lines that are given here are just
saying that this time around he'll be at the "table" when the "company" and no one
