Alexander Calder was an American artist famous for his wire sculptures of people and animals. He was born in Lawnton, Pennsylvania in 1898 and died in 1976, receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Some of his most well known works included wire sculptures of hands and mobiles to entertain babies.
