The stones hope
- 1. WELCOME
- 11. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
- 13. That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.

- The reason for a rolling stone … Tombs were not for one time uses like our caskets and burials today. The family would be laid to rest in the tomb at different times depending on death … needed a system to be reusable … rolling stone
- Stone Rolled against the entrance of the Tomb
- Matthew 27:62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
- Matthew 27:65 “Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

- defeated Satan’s hold of death In Christ, We are alive - We are not dead to sin STOP letting sin shackle you - Live Life as an alive, forgiven christ follower Dead to sin - white knuckle life (hope i do not sin the moment Jesus comes back) No checklist, Jesus defeated death - satan has no hold - we control the feelings of guilt and shame
- Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. If we do not forgive ourselves and understand we have received God’s grace, then we might as well put Jesus back in the tomb and roll the stone over the entrance FREEDOM IN CHRIST - NOT SLAVES
- When Jesus said it is finished on the cross, he meant it. The sacrifice has been done.
- Stone of Hope was rolled away so we could come into Christ Christ follower - baptism have not been “In” Christ,
