This document discusses the 7th petition of the Lord's Prayer, "But deliver us from evil." It provides commentary on what this petition means, including that we pray to be rescued from every evil of body and soul, possessions and reputation, and to be given a blessed end. When our last hour comes, we pray to be taken from this valley of sorrow to God in heaven. The commentary emphasizes that we pray against our chief enemy, the devil, who hinders everything we pray for, and that God preserves us from this arch enemy.

It is particularly distressing when some Christians are alienated or repressed for their views and beliefs of affiliation in Christ. But note behind every persecution there is a message and something God wants us to learn from.
Focus not on the campaign to subjugate or eliminate you but look for the possibilities in the word concerning you. With Christ it is never hopeless, remember you are what God says you are and you have what God says you have because you are a peculiar person, sanctified, separated and put apart for his use. Know this, “Rejoice if you are persecuted, because you are fit for an acceptable purpose to proclaim liberty to them that are imprisoned by fleshy lust, to bind up the broken hearted, and to comfort all that mourn.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

15. Morality is a biological adaptation
no less than are hands and feet and
teeth…considered as a rationally
justifable set of claims about an
objective something, ethics is
illusory. I appreciate what when
somebody says « Love they
neighbor as thyself, » they think
they are referring above and beyond
themselves…Neverthless,…such
reference is truly without
foundation. Morality is just an aid
to survival and reproduction…and
any deeper meaning is illusory.
16. I live in the Managerial Age, in a world
of "Admin." The greatest evil is not
now done in those sordid "dens of
crime" that Dickens loved to paint. It is
not done even in concentration camps
and labour camps. In those we see its
final result. But it is conceived and
ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and
minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed,
and well-lighted offices, by quiet men
with white collars and cut fingernails
and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not
need to raise their voice. Hence,
naturally enough, my symbol for Hell
is something like the bureaucracy of a
police state or the offices of a
thoroughly nasty business concern.
