This document discusses the importance of emotional and spiritual health, particularly for leadership. It emphasizes loving God and others, self-awareness, addressing issues beneath the surface, and regular self-examination. Developing a positive view of oneself as God sees us can strengthen character and allow God's presence in us to be felt by others in a good way. Emotional maturity is necessary for spiritual maturity. Leaders must care for their internal lives through practices like self-care, honesty, and addressing defensiveness.
Jesus' parables of seed and sower remind us that we are responsible to develop spiritual maturity in our lives by responding to His word. No church or other person can do this for us.

Uncover three ways to incorporate deep personal work into your work, learn how to make letting go & getting real practical: in each meeting and engagement with others. Identify a role model in your own organization who’s authentic and firmly grounded (to learn from).
Emotions operate on many levels, physical and mental, and they bridge thought, feeling, and action ; they affect many aspects of a person our lives. Emotions round us out, as we are more than our thoughts, perception, reason, or memories. Understanding and identifying emotions so we can express them effectively is key to a healthy life.

Teaching Middle... A Spiritual Practice
Teaching is profound, personal, and complex- almost a spiritual practice. Using that metaphor, perhaps we can draw on inner resources which will allow us to remain balanced and compassionate even on our most difficult days. This presentation will not espouse any specific religious tenets but gently look at philosophical underpinnings common to all.

In order to have healthy intimate relationships with others, it helps to have a healthy intimate relationship with God. With God, there is absence of judgment and unconditional acceptance, unlike with a human partner. Through reference to biblical concepts and teachings from the Catholic Catechism, this presentation explains how to form a healthy intimacy with God.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. 37 He said to him, “‘You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, and
with all your soul, and with all your
mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first
commandment. 39 And a second is like
it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as
yourself.’
Matthew 22:37-39 (NRSV)

5. Set an example for the
believers in speech, in
life, in love, in faith, and
in purity.....do not neglect
the gift which was given
you....watch your life and
doctrine closely....
persevere in them. 1 Timothy 4
7. Positive circle of spiritual
self-esteem…
If only we would properly attend to God's
gifts to us and in us! Then self awareness
and healthy self love could form a positive
circle of spiritual self-esteem and
ultimately be a source of strength for
others as well as ourselves. Will we have
the trust to do this? Will we take the time?
Wicks, R, (1992:25) Touching the Holy : Ordinariness, Self-esteem,
and Friendship
8. Whose and Who
Personal awareness of self before a loving
God is also important because it helps self
confidence to grow and be more resistant to
the assaults of failure or rebuff. Thus, it
allows our character to develop and it
enables the presence of God with in us to be
felt in a good way by others.
Wicks, R, (1992:25) Touching the Holy : Ordinariness, Self-
esteem, and Friendship
9. 5 Principles of self-respect
and clarity:
When I have made a mistake or
feel anxious, I need to separate
what I have done from who I
am.
When I feel badly about myself
as a person, I must see if I am
embracing an irrational belief
about myself.
10. 5 Principles of Self-respect
and Clarity:
Since I am the one person I will
have an intimate relationship
with for my entire life I need to
take care of myself at least as
well as I would care for others.
I must be sensitive to irrational
thoughts and willing to
challenge and dispute them.
11. 5 Principles of self-respect
and clarity:
I need to be aware of depression
producing, personally devaluing
styles of thinking .
16. “Living …with a view of
self that is any less than
God's view of us, God
who wrote our names on
the palms of his hands, is
unnecessarily tragic and
sad. If we can remember
this each day no matter
how we feel or what is
facing us, we can then be
as spiritually audacious as
God has intended us to be
all along”
19. Taking your Spiritual Pulse
Test yourselves to make sure you
are solid in the faith. Don’t drift
along taking everything for granted.
Give yourselves regular checkups.
You need firsthand evidence, not
mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is
in you. Test it out. If you fail the test,
do something about it.
2 Corinthians 13:5
23. Consolation and Desolation
“Opportunity to reorient your life -
live into and out of who God created
you to be…” (Larry Warner)
“Where is this taking me; to God or
away from God?”
www.b-ing.org
24. • Fear of anger
and not being
liked,
• Dismissed as a
valuable person,
• Not being seen
as unique,
• Being viewed as
weak.
25. • Inappropriate expectations we may have
of others.
• Major prejudices or isms we have that
are hidden from us.
• Emotional "baggage" or unfinished
business we still carry around with us.
26. Emotionally Healthy
Spirituality
“Emotional health and spiritual
maturity are inseparable. It is
not possible to be spiritually
mature while remaining
emotionally immature.”
Scazzero, P. The Emotionally Healthy Church
27. “The overall health of any church or
ministry depends primarily on the
the emotional and spiritual health of
its leadership. In fact, the key to
successful spiritual leadership has
much more to do with the leaders
internal life than with the leaders
expertise, gifts or experience”
28. “Self-care is never a selfish act – it is
simply good stewardship of the only
gift I have, the gift I was put on earth
to offer others. Anytime we can listen
to true self and give it the care it
requires, we do it not only for
ourselves, but for the many others
whose lives we touch”.
(Parker Palmer)
29. We can not grow an emotionally
healthy church if we ourselves are
not addressing issues deep
beneath the surface of our lives.
30. Practical Steps
Invite God to bring to our awareness
and to transform those beneath-the-
surface layers that hinder us from
becoming more like Jesus. This
require unmasked, painful honesty.
Truth will set us free (John 8:32)
33. Was I defensive today? Did I feel angry, hurt, annoyed, anxious, sad,
disappointed, rigid, passive, overly nice, judgemental, bored, distracted,
confused, impatient, or empathetic today? If so, what can I understand
about such defensiveness that will also teach me something about
myself?
