Turkish Health sector, with its tourism side, is one of the leading and emerging sectors of Turkish economy. The highest quality of Turkish hospitals has already been pleasantly welcomed and accredited by the world’s famous health accreditation entities, such as Joint Commission International (JCI). According to JCI, Turkey is the second country at the ranking list with its 42 prestigious health institutions. The Turkish medical device sector is expected to expand at a CAGR of 8.5% over the 2013-2018 period. Investments in the healthcare sector are expected to continue as the government strives to increase the number of hospital beds per 10,000 populations to 32 in 2023 from the current number of 26.5. It has also taken on an ambitious healthcare PPP program. According to PPP professionals, Turkey is the second most attractive market globally for PPP projects in the medium to long term.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare developed the National Health Accounts (NHA) in 2001–02 to support the governance of health systems and enable the design of more effective health policies. This report provides an estimate of the total health expenditure for 2004-05 (taking into consideration the launch of the National Rural Health Mission in 2005), and gives provisional estimates of the health expenditure from 2005-06 to 2008-09.
In the computation of NHA, the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) definition of health expenditure was adopted. NHA includes expenditure on inpatient and outpatient care, hospitals, specialty hospitals, health promotion centres, rehabilitative care centres, capital expenditure on health, medical education, and research and training. It excludes expenses on water supply, sanitation, environmental health and the mid-day meal programme.
This seventh edition of Health at a Glance provides the latest comparable data on different aspects of the performance of health systems in OECD countries. It provides striking evidence of large variations across countries in the costs, activities and results of health systems. Key indicators provide information on health status, the determinants of health, health care activities and health expenditure and financing in OECD countries. Each indicator in the book is presented in a user-friendly format, consisting of charts illustrating variations across countries and over time, brief descriptive analyses highlighting the major findings conveyed by the data, and a methodological box on the definition of the indicator and any limitations in data comparability.
This fourth edition of Health at a Glance: Europe presents key indicators of health and health systems in the 28 EU countries, 5 candidate countries to the EU and 3 EFTA countries. This 2016 edition contains two main new features: two thematic chapters analyse the links between population health and labour market outcomes, and the important challenge of strengthening primary care systems in European countries; and a new chapter on the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of health systems in Europe, in order to align the content of this publication more closely with the 2014 European Commission Communication on effective, accessible and resilient health systems. This publication is the result of a renewed collaboration between the OECD and the European Commission under the broader "State of Health in the EU" initiative, designed to support EU member states in their evidence-based policy making.

Investment in Iran's health care and hospital projectsGriffon Capital
The healthcare sector in Iran is an established market with massive growth potential expected for the near future. With due consideration for unaddressed existing demand, rising demand owing to a sizable population growth rate of 1.3%, along with growing medical tourism segment originating from neighboring countries, the opportunity for investment in this sector is compelling for investors.
Due to severe underinvestment and capital starvation in the healthcare industry during the sanctions period, the government has forecasted a $17bn investment requirement in the next five years to meet the mid term demand. Accordingly, due to lack of specialized funds and institutional investment, the government has placed a special emphasis on attracting foreign investment into Iran for development of hospital and other medical center projects.

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!
