Targeting Obesity in 8-14 year olds (BME
Communities)
Work with obese and sedentary children in
schools and the community
Main focus is to get these target children out into
doorstep sport and get them more active!

lifestyle change
3. Practicalities
Contact schools in area (targeted schools in deprived areas with
high obesity levels)
Deliver Taster sessions to all children in years 5 & 6 (Primary) and 7,
8 & 9 (Secondary)
All children selected for project (sensitively) complete PAR Q online
questionnaire *Key for data capture
6 week program – packed with FUN fizzical activity e.g. Boxercise,
Martial arts to music (Kombat Kraziee), Streetdance, Zumba, Tag
rugby, Handball, Interactive games.
Encourage these children to attend our community sessions set in
areas local to them. Build their confidence to join doorstep sports
clubs and activities
Work with community partners and encourage activity sessions for
this target group
Recruit local volunteers to build on longevity of Fizzical Project
