This document outlines the instructions for a two-part assignment on conducting a needs assessment for a local community. In part one, students are asked to review an existing needs assessment for their community and critique it based on identifying the lead agency, assessment model used, main health priorities identified, and reflection on the WHO framework. Part two requires students to perform their own mini needs assessment by identifying demographic data on their community, selecting a target sub-group, identifying health priorities for that group using epidemiological data, describing quality of life data sources, and discussing concepts of community capacity and next steps to evaluate it in their area.
