The document reports on a study of material well-being in Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine conducted in March 2016. It summarizes the following key findings: 1) 50% of the population has an income per person of less than 1500 Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH). Respondents considered 3000 UAH as the minimum necessary income and 5000 UAH as sufficient income. 2) The average actual income per person was below the expected minimum income across all areas surveyed. The gap was largest in rural areas of the region. 3) Most respondents expected a minimum income of 3000 UAH, considered 5000 UAH sufficient, and saw 10000 UAH as a high income level. However

The population living in areas of our region has some
difficulties with determination the income per 1 person
that could be considered as high. Thus, 14% of this
category of respondents have not been able to
answer the question: "What the per capita income, in
your opinion, can be considered as high one at this
moment in Ukraine (especially in Zaporizhzhia)?"

or conversely high expectations concerning the level
of income can be present at the sample and that this
fact influence the average, it is advisable to

between 25 and 75% of the sample are typical for
50% of the population, respectively, represent a kind
of "corridor of expectations" of residents concerning
