HAZRAT YUSUF

INTRODUCTION
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) was the son of Hazrat Yaqub
(AS), grandson of Hazrat Ishaq (AS) and Great
grandson of Hazart Ibrahim (AS).
 The Holy Quran has mentioned his story in a
beautiful Surah entitled “Surah Yusuf”.
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) had 11 brothers.
 He was one of the youngest and the most
beautiful.
 Binyamin was the Real brother of Yusuf (AS)
and rest 10 were from another mother.
 His mother name was Raheel.
 He was born in Kannan, in Palestine.
DREAM AND JEALOUSY
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) once dreamt that eleven
stars and the sun and moon were prostrating to
him.
 His father told him to keep it as a secret from his
brothers because they may harm him.
 His brothers were jealous of him because he
was very dear to Hazrat Yaqub (AS).
 So they planned to somehow get rid of him.
 They seek their Father’s permission and after a
long debate he finally gave them the permission
to take him out.
 They decided to kill him first, but later they threw
him in the well.
 They gave excuse of a wolf eating Yusuf (AS)
and brought a torn shirt for proof.
ESCAPE FROM WELL
PROPHET IN EGYPT
 A caravan took Yusuf (AS) out from the well.
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) arrived in Egypt . At the slave
market.
 News of His remarkable youth swept through
the city.
 Fotifaar, Aziz-e-Misr offered a price that none
could match and brought Hazrat Yusuf home.
 He and his wife Zuleikha adopted Hazrat Yusuf
as their son.
IMPRISONMENT
KING’S DREAM
INTERPRETATION BY PROPHET
 The king saw a dream, which he wanted to be
interpreted.
 The wine-server approached the king and got his
permission to see Hazrat Yusuf (AS)
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) interpreted the dream by the
power given to him by Allah.
 On hearing this very reasonable and sensible
interpretation of his dream from the wine-
server, the king was delighted.
 He ordered that Hazrat Yusuf (AS) be
brought before him so he could make good
use of his wisdom in solving his problems.
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) refused to leave the prison
until he proved his innocence.
IN THE ROYAL COURT
 When the king met Hazrat Yusuf (AS), he
found him to be a wise and broad-minded
man.
 The king made him in charge of finance and
food and ordered his ministers and officials to
treat Hazrat Yusuf's (AS) commands as his
own.
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) thus became the Aziz of
Egypt and began his new duties without
delay.
FAMINE AND YUSUF'S BROTHERS
 He was determined that when the famine arrived, nobody
should starve.
 The famine also extended to the lands of Palestine and
Kanaan where Hazrat Ya'qub (AS) lived with his sons.
 Hazrat Ya'qub (AS) commanded his sons to set off for
Egypt to purchase grain and bring it back to Kanaan.
 When his brothers arrived, they did not recognize
him at all, never expecting that he was alive.
 Hazart Yusuf provided them with enough wheat for
their needs and had their money put back in their
bags secretly.
 He also asked them to bring their other brother
(Binyamin) the next time as proof that they were
speaking the truth about their family.
 After repeated promises the brothers finally
convinced their father that they would sincerely look
after Binyamin.
BINYAMIN IN EGYPT & PLAN TO DETAIN
 Yusuf (AS) revealed secret on Binyamin.
 According to the command of Allah, Hazrat Yusuf
(AS) put into action a plan to detain his full brother
Binyamin.
 He ordered his men to put a gold cup belonging to
the king in Binyamin's baggage.
 When the soldiers started searching cup, they
found it in Binyamin’s bag.
 According to the Rules of Egypt, thief must be kept
as a slave.
 The brothers had no choice but to leave for
Kanaan.
IN SEARCH OF BROTHERS
 When the brothers returned to Kanaan and told Hazrat
Ya'qub (AS) what had happened, he was heartbroken.
 He asked his sons to immediately return to Egypt to look for
both Hazrat Yusuf (AS) and Binyamin.
 According to their father's instructions , the brothers came
to the Aziz of Egypt, and pleaded for the release of
Binyamin.
REVEALING SECRET
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) reminded them of how badly they
had treated their brother Yusuf, and caused separation
between him and his father.
 The brothers were amazed to hear their secret from the
Aziz, who now spoke in the language of the people of
Kanaan.
 They asked the Aziz that is he Yusuf? And in answer he
replied Yes. I am Yusuf.
 The brothers felt very ashamed and asked for Hazrat
Yusuf's forgiveness.
 He forgave them.
 He gave the shirt to his brothers and told them to cast
the shirt on his Fathers face so that his eyesight would
be back.
REUNION OF FAMILY
 After getting his eyesight back and hearing the
good news of his son, Hazrat Ya'qub (AS) decided
to proceed to Egypt immediately.
 The entire family set off for Egypt.
INTERPRETATION OF HIS DREAM
CONCLUSION
 Hazrat Ya'qub (AS) lived in Egypt for 17
years and died at the age of 147.
 Hazrat Yusuf (AS) breathed his last some
years later at the age of 110 years.

STORY
 In all difficulties and hardships one should seek
only Allah's protection.
 One should always remain attached to Islam
and should take every opportunity to persuade
others towards the right path.
 Patience in the face of hardship is the best of
qualities and results in reward from Allah in this
life and the hereafter.
 It is important to act in such a manner as to
preserve your honor and dignity.
 These qualities must always be safeguarded.
 This story teaches us that we should forgive and
forget the past
