The Harris Center was established in 1970 by Eleanor Briggs to protect over 3,000 acres of land in New Hampshire that had been in her family for generations. It began as an environmental education center using her grandmother's house and has since expanded to offer programming on conservation, become a land trust protecting over 15,000 acres, and renovate its facilities using sustainable design principles. The Harris Center aims to connect people with the natural lands through various educational outings, workshops, and land conservation efforts.
