Executive summary
Techno-Healthy idea is based on the
increased computer use in schools & the
anticipated free laptop program by the
Government of Kenya.
It seeks to cultivate the hand washing
behavior before and after using a
computer.
The idea is highly relevant and sustainable
since it cuts across:
 Primary school students
 Primary school teachers
 Parents of the primary school pupils.
Hence, increasing the target market.
Finally the idea builds on the current 5
levers of hand washing and pursues to
introduce the 6th
Lever.

Through EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS:
 By building on the already existing hand washing
program.
 Handwashing competition among pupils and
rewarding the winners with computers tagged with
lifebuoy logo.
 Having the students pledge in front of their peers on
how they like washing their hands with lifebuoy before
& after using a computer.
 Donation of stationary with the lifebuoy logo on them.
 Scholarship for the best KCPE students in the counties.
Through LOCAL & NATIONAL LEADERS endorsement:
 Engaging local chiefs to sell the idea to local population.
 Endorsement by national leaders with public appeal to
the national population.
 Getting government to help link the free laptop
program with Handwashing initiative with lifebuoy
soap.

Integrating handwashing before & after using a computer into the 5 key
moments as the new 6th
key moment.
Children develop handwashing behavior & habit after use of a computer.
It leads to a generation of people programmed to wash hands-leading to a
sustainable culture.
Applying the psychological concept of conditioning the students such that
whenever they want to use a computer they automatically want to wash their
hands.

affordability & convenience.
Introducing complementary computer cleaning products:

  • 2. La Casa Executive summary Techno-Healthy idea is based on the increased computer use in schools & the anticipated free laptop program by the Government of Kenya. It seeks to cultivate the hand washing behavior before and after using a computer. The idea is highly relevant and sustainable since it cuts across:  Primary school students  Primary school teachers  Parents of the primary school pupils. Hence, increasing the target market. Finally the idea builds on the current 5 levers of hand washing and pursues to introduce the 6th Lever.

La Casa Marketing insights Through EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS:  By building on the already existing hand washing program.  Handwashing competition among pupils and rewarding the winners with computers tagged with lifebuoy logo.  Having the students pledge in front of their peers on how they like washing their hands with lifebuoy before & after using a computer.  Donation of stationary with the lifebuoy logo on them.  Scholarship for the best KCPE students in the counties. Through LOCAL & NATIONAL LEADERS endorsement:  Engaging local chiefs to sell the idea to local population.  Endorsement by national leaders with public appeal to the national population.  Getting government to help link the free laptop program with Handwashing initiative with lifebuoy soap.

La Casa Marketing insights Through MEDICAL ENDORSEMENT & Health training.  Endorsement & public pledges by nurses & doctors on Handwashing using lifebuoy & its preventive importance against spread of germs.  Health training on general & hand hygiene especially during school visits. Through MEDIA & CELEBRITIES:  Advertisements focusing on the healthy issues surrounding use of computers and how Handwashing using lifebuoy would help.  Using Celebrities such as Mwalimu Wanjiku to use her “professional” humor as a teacher to recommend Handwashing using lifebuoy after engaging a computer. Through the CHURCH & MUSLIM LEADERS:  Convincing the various church groups & Muslim leaders together with their followers will create the wide acceptance needed.

  • 7. La Casa sustainability Sustainability will mainly focus on Behavior Change. Integrating handwashing before & after using a computer into the 5 key moments as the new 6th key moment. Children develop handwashing behavior & habit after use of a computer. It leads to a generation of people programmed to wash hands-leading to a sustainable culture. Applying the psychological concept of conditioning the students such that whenever they want to use a computer they automatically want to wash their hands. 6th KEY MOMENT B4 & After using a COMPUTER A TECHNO-HEALTHY SCHOOL CHILD.  HANDWASHING HABIT,  REINFORCED BEHAVIOUR,  INCREASED USE OF LIFEBUOY,  INCREASED BUYING
  • 8. La Casa sustainability Use of the redeemable points from scratching lifebuoy packages. Increasing the number of school visits to reinforce the behavior. Partnering with opinion leaders such as local leaders, church leaders, school heads & medical field leaders to continue with the endorsements. Introducing the project to even private schools. This will help drive the program. Customized & subsidizing soaps for primary schools for more affordability & convenience. Introducing complementary computer cleaning products:  Electric blowers  Using computer wipers  Using lifebuoy liquid detergent to clean keyboards & a mouse.
