This document provides vocabulary and exercises for a unit on food and drinks in Mandarin Chinese. It includes common words related to eating and drinking, questions to ask about food and drink preferences, a reading passage demonstrating use of the vocabulary, and tasks to interview classmates and design a graphic displaying food preferences and write an essay describing food preferences of one's family members. Students are asked to learn new vocabulary, conduct interviews, create a graphic, and write an essay in Chinese applying their new language skills around the topic of food.

Writing Task
Add the food and drinks preferences for each of your family member
(including pets) to your family essay. And write a new draft in the
special green sheet, which Chinese students use as their composition
paper. Your essay will be used as reading comprehension for the
students in the following quarters and years, so please make sure you
have neat hand-writing. Also, try your best to make the essay errorless.

In the essay, you MUST including these areas:
 Names of yourself
 Your feeling
 How many people are in your family and who are they
 Name of each family member (include your pets if you want to)
 Food AND drinks preferences for each family member (including
yourself, and your pets)
 Ending sentence, such as “I love my family.”
