GROUP PROJECTS
 City Centre parking
Purpose:
This project is used to minimize the waste time of finding a parking in city center.
Problem identification:
People spend a lot of time searching for a free parking in the mall which is
frustrating and time consuming. This search creates traffic inside the parking area
and causes problem for the walking customers
Solution:
There are many solutions for this problem but the best solution in term of low cost
and the possibility of implementation it in real life is to put a display in the entrance.
This display will show the number of available free parking in each floor or section.
Also you could upgrade the solution to include light in the entrance of each parking
lane to indicate if the area is full or not.
Implementation:
o Tools: sensor, LCD screen and led lights.
o How it work:
When a car enters the parking area the sensors will decrease the total
number of the available parking spaces displayed in the LCD screen by one.
After all the parking in one lane will be full the light on the entrance of the
lane will show red light to indicate that is it full.
When a car leaves the parking area the sensors will sense that automatically
and the number of available spaces will increase in the LCD screen.
 Smart Table, Fall 2011-Spring 2012:
Purpose:
This project aims to help student in the culture center in SQU library to reserve a table.

3. Problem identification:
In some cases the student or the visitor will need to go for a short break. This mean
he will have to take all of his books and other items with him which in most cases is
not practical or he will leave the items on the table and return to find that someone
else is setting in the same table. The other person might think that the items are left
behind by someone who has left the library. This means that one of them will have
to move which cause felling of uncomfortableness and loss of precious time in
library and also might result in distribution for the other people in the library
Solution:
The best solution is to use card reader so the student or the visitor will swap the
identification card to reserve the table. This solution can be upgrade by providing
alternative reservation way like entering identification number in case the student or
the visitor forgets his identification card.
Implementation:
o Tools: LCD screen, led light, timer and card reader.
o How it work:
The student will swap the card and the card reader will read the
identification number and show a red light to indicate that this table is
reserved. The device must be combined with a timer to set a specific time
for the reservation.
LCD screen is needed in case there is alternative login way.
 Designing an effective drilling resource allocation system
/ Academic year 2012-2013
The project was done in awareness of the uncertainties that occurs in resource allocation in oil
and gas fields and the level of complexity. Resource allocation is a key activity targeted to
assign the resources with respect to economic framework of an organization, so our
objectives of the project were to design a model that can help in:
 Assigning the optimal resources for each job.
 Minimizing cost and time of running.
 Minimizing the variation in cost and time.
