This presentation gives information on the pharmacology of Prostaglandins, Thromboxanes and Leukotrienes i.e. Eicosanoids. Eicosanoids are signaling molecules derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids like arachidonic acid. They are involved in complex control over inflammation, immunity, and the central nervous system. Eicosanoids are synthesized through the enzymatic oxidation of fatty acids by cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes. They have short half-lives and act locally through autocrine and paracrine signaling.
Pharmacology of Drugs for Congestive Heart Failure
Congestive Heart failure is caused by low cardiac output and high sympathetic discharge. Diuretics reduce preload, ACE inhibitors lower afterload, beta blockers reduce sympathetic activity, and digitalis has inotropic effects. Newer medications target vasodilation and myosin activation to improve heart efficiency while lowering energy requirements. Combination therapy, following an assessment of cardiac function and volume status, is the most effective strategy to heart failure care.

- 2. After years of self introspection I found that I communicate only on superficial levels of my consciousness. I give vent to the responses in my autonomic, limbic and central nervous system; which are subjective and hence not absolute truth and the expression in a given language is also far too limited. I am tempted or propelled from time to time to communicate. But doubts about acceptability, fear of condemnation, apprehension about fall in my own evaluation, inability to probe my own subconscious stratum, shyness to accept the basal aspects publicly and ignorance about not merely intricacies, but also the simple facts going on in my body tissues and cells; make me unable to communicate the truth.
