2. Things to remember while assigning Style/Article Code;
One style code defines a unique design which may come in multiple colors and
sizes.
Style Code : 14007 Style Code : 14007
Color : Black Color : Red
This is different from product SKUs in which every color and every size should
have a different number.
3. Cont’d
Do not use characters that might confuse people or software.
e.g. Using a "/" can result in Excel formatting your part number as a date. Symbols
such as "<", ">", and "*" can have unintended consequences when moving data
between spreadsheet program. Try to keep your Style code simple and alpha-
numeric where possible.
Never start a style code with a zero.
Avoid using letters that can be confused with numbers. The main culprits are O
and I.
Do not load Style Code with meaning do not try to use the style code to describe
your product. This will only make your Style code longer, and more complicated.
Keep style code short but not so short that they could be mistaken for other
numbers (i.e. quantities). 4 8 characters will suffice for most Brands.
