The document discusses the importance of guarding the five senses (vision, hearing, smell, touch, and taste) as they are the avenues to the soul. It provides biblical references and examples of how guarding each sense helps avoid temptation and protects the soul from evil influences. Failing to guard the senses can allow Satan to gain victory and lead to unholy thoughts and actions.
Paul introduces himself as a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle and set apart to preach the gospel of God. He states that the gospel was promised beforehand through the prophets and concerns God's son Jesus Christ, who was of the lineage of David and declared to be the son of God through his resurrection from the dead. Paul received grace and his apostleship to bring about obedience of faith among all nations for Jesus' name.
This document is a student paper submitted to a health care professor exploring whether evil spirits truly exist. It presents arguments that if evil spirits like the devil do not exist, then parts of Christianity fall apart and there would be no consequences for immoral actions. The paper also summarizes biblical passages that reference evil spirits and shares a first-hand account of someone who claims to have been possessed by three demons. The student concludes that while evil spirits are difficult to believe in without direct experience, stories of possession suggest there is a possibility that they exist.
Celine Dion sings about Christmas and the new year. She hopes this Christmas is fun and without fear for everyone, whether they are young or old, rich or poor, black or white. She wants the war and fighting to end so everyone can have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for both physical and mental health. Regular exercise can improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress and anxiety, and boost mood and cognitive function. Staying physically active for at least 30 minutes each day is recommended for significant health benefits.

The speaker remembers their father who left when they were young. They only met him once on their first birthday and wonder what life would have been like if he had stayed and been their dad. The speaker feels the father broke promises to raise them and be selfless, though acknowledges it was the 1980s. While the memory of his face is faded, the speaker hopes their father is still out there and would like to meet him without anger if he knocked on the door or called occasionally. The speaker has now grown up with a different last name but no hatred for the father they barely knew.
The document contrasts statements of doubt with reassuring responses from God found in scripture. It addresses common doubts like being too tired, feeling unloved, worried or alone. Each doubt is followed by a Bible verse where God promises rest, love, wisdom, forgiveness and that all things are possible through faith in him. The overall message is that no matter the doubt, God provides answers through his word to give hope and reassurance.
The document summarizes chapters 13-15 of the Book of Acts, recounting how Paul and Barnabas preached in Iconium and Lystra. Through their powerful preaching, many Jews and Greeks came to believe. However, some Jews stirred up opposition against them. Paul and Barnabas stayed and continued preaching boldly despite facing persecution. Paul healed an crippled man, leading the people of Lystra to believe Paul and Barnabas were gods. The apostles had to convince the people they were just ordinary men preaching about the true, living God.

The father sent his four sons to look at a pear tree in different seasons. The first saw it in winter and thought it was ugly, while the second in spring saw it as promising. The third in summer saw it as beautiful, and the fourth in fall saw it fully bearing fruit. The father explained that they were all right, as each saw the tree in a different season, and one must experience all seasons to understand someone or something fully.
This document discusses the negative effects of mass media such as television and social media on moral development and character building in children and society. It provides numerous statistics showing that children now spend much more time engaged with media than in other developmental activities like reading, social interaction, or religious activities. It also cites research showing that excessive media use can physically affect brain development in ways that hurt attention span, empathy, reasoning skills, and can promote addictive or antisocial behaviors. The document advocates for limiting media time and promoting activities like reading that strengthen character.
The document provides testimonials from several people about the positive impact that reading books from the Lamplighter series has had on their lives and families. It discusses how the books have transformed one person's daughter's life and caused other families to flourish in grace. One person said the books were the finest they had ever read. The testimonials suggest the books are having a tremendous effect on strengthening character and families.
Improving Human Behavior-Part Four: Evidences of the Adverse Impact of the Or...Pietro Marchitelli
The document discusses the origins of evil in human beings stemming from the fall of Adam and Eve. It argues that the fall occurred due to their premature engagement in sexual activity before reaching spiritual, psychological and physical maturity. This corrupted the development of their mind and neurological connections, imprinting sexual sensations that now strongly influence human behavior and society. To overcome this, the document claims each person must purify their mind and make divine love and conscience the default to build a just world free from issues like sexual abuse.

The document discusses theology of the body and provides Catholic teachings on love, sexuality, marriage, and purity. It addresses why Christians should save sex for marriage, the differences between love and lust, and myths about topics like contraception, safe sex, and sexuality. The overall message encourages living a chaste life as a path to happiness, integrity, and closeness to God.
1. The frontal lobe controls important cognitive functions like problem solving, memory, and judgment, and is the "control panel" of personality.
2. Different types of music and television can produce different responses in the frontal lobe, with some encouraging more logical thinking and others bypassing frontal lobe filtering and encouraging emotional responses.
3. Excessive television watching and certain types of music can impair frontal lobe functions like discrimination and decision making, while activities like reading, puzzles, and Bible study exercise the frontal lobe. Protecting the frontal lobe is important for physical, mental and spiritual health.
The document discusses the rationale for teaching a course on human sexuality. It notes that sex is prevalent in media and politics but parents are not a primary source of information for most teenagers. The course aims to provide accurate information to dispel myths, examine societal influences, and promote sexual literacy and healthy relationships. A quiz is included to assess common misconceptions about sexuality. The document also discusses how different cultures and historical periods shaped views of sexuality and morality over time.

The document discusses views on sex, premarital relationships, and masturbation from a religious perspective. It presents arguments that:
1) Sex was created by God for the loving union of husband and wife within marriage to bond the couple and allow procreation. Premarital sex risks damaging future relationships and marriage.
2) Masturbation that involves lustful thoughts is sinful according to scripture. It can also lead to sexual addiction and experimentation with unclean acts.
3) Not masturbating is not unhealthy as the body naturally reabsorbs unused sperm cells, and any residual secretions are released through nocturnal emissions. Remaining pure allows one to live a holy life as called by God
Television was commercially introduced in the late 1920s and has since become common in homes globally. By 2009, 78% of households owned at least one television. Television can influence behaviors, such as encouraging people to cook by watching cooking shows, and negatively impact youth by glorifying smoking or exposing them to excessive violence. However, positive impacts also exist, such as religious programming correlating with benefits like higher marriage satisfaction. The content and type of news viewed can also affect mood and health, with excessive negative news potentially harming psychology. Parents can help mitigate television's negative influences through open communication and co-viewing with children.

This is my first-ever sermon focused on the real problems that pornography creates for any person using it. There is a plague of porn in the world today and we cannot continue to ignore it or just say it is wrong. We have to know how harmful it is and how to protect ourselves, our kids, our families from it so that we can have holy, heathly, godly relationships as sexual beings. Despite my personal angst in giving this message, God blessed it. I hope everyone of us hears this so we can help ourselves and others. Millions are addicted to porn. Hundreds of millions are affected by porn. God hates porn. We need to, also. Porn deeply damages relationships, especially in marriages and families.
The audio of this sermon is on our church website at john10-10.org under Sermon Audios.
This document discusses the sin of masturbation and argues that it is harmful and against God's design. It provides several reasons for this view:
1) Masturbation excites the body to unnatural action and speeds exhaustion of vital energies, leading to physical and mental decline.
2) It begins with lustful thoughts, which Jesus said can be a form of adultery. It also often involves fantasy and pornography.
3) While it may provide temporary relief, it actually increases sexual desire over time and enslaves people to lust.
4) True purity can only be found in resisting sinful thoughts, not choosing between "lesser evils." God empowers us to overcome all sin through

"The future is for the nations who are chaste". The licentious conduct of our young people, prostitution, pornography, and marriages for money, vanity or luxury, adultery and divorce, voluntary sterility and abortion, have debilitated the nation and stopped its increase; the individual has been unable to conserve his energies, and the quality of the new growth has diminished simultaneously with its quantity. "Moral indiscipline at once dries up the fountains of the race, and hastens the wear and tear of the adults whom it debilitates both morally and physically."

I have been shown that we must be guarded on every side and perseveringly resist the insinuations and devices of Satan. He has transformed himself into an angel of light and is deceiving thousands and leading them captive.
The advantage he takes of the science of the human mind, is tremendous. Here, serpent-like, he imperceptibly creeps in to corrupt the work of God.
The miracles and works of Christ he would make appear as the result of human skill and power. If he should make an open, bold attack upon Christianity, it would bring the Christian in distress and agony to the feet of his Redeemer, and his strong and mighty Deliverer would put the bold adversary to flight. He therefore transforms himself into an angel of light and works upon the mind to allure from the only safe and right path.
The sciences of phrenology, psychology, and mesmerism are the channel through which he comes more directly to this generation and works with that power which is to characterize his efforts near the close of probation. {1T 290.1}
This document summarizes a study on the effects of viewing pornography. The study divided participants into groups that viewed varying amounts of pornographic or non-pornographic films over 6 weeks. Those who viewed large amounts of porn reported less satisfaction with real partners, preferred sex without emotional involvement, and were more likely to accept casual sex. The document suggests pornography can decrease satisfaction with relationships and sex, disconnect people from real intimacy, and warp sexual beliefs by comparing real partners to porn standards.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdfBen Linders
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.

4. Sense -- Vision
Matthew 6: 22-23
[22] The light of the body is the eye: if
therefore thine eye be single, thy whole
body shall be full of light.
[23] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole
body shall be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in thee be
darkness, how great is that darkness!
5. Sense -- Vision
Psalms 101: 3
I will set no wicked thing before
mine eyes: I hate the work of
them that turn aside; it shall not
cleave to me.
6. Sense -- Vision
Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the
tree was good for food, and that it
was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree
to be desired to make one wise, she
took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with
her; and he did eat.
7. Sense -- Vision
"By beholding we are to become changed;
and as we meditate upon the perfections of
the divine Model, we shall desire to become
wholly transformed, and renewed in the
image of His purity. It is by faith in the Son of
God that transformation takes place in the
character, and the child of wrath becomes the
child of God..." Volume 1, Selected Messages, 335-338 (ST
December 26, 1892).
8. Sense -- Vision
Violence on television affects children negatively,
according to psychological research.
The three major effects of seeing violence on
television are:
– Children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering
of others.
– Children may be more fearful of the world around them.
– Children may be more likely to behave in aggressive ways
toward others
FACT: The average American child will have watched
100,000 acts of televised violence, including 8000
depictions of murder, by the time he or she finishes
sixth grade (approximately 13 years old).
9. Sense -- Vision
Children's television shows contain about 20
violent acts each hour.
Children who watched violent shows were more
likely to strike out at playmates, argue, disobey
authority and were less willing to wait for things
than those children who watched non-violent
programs.
Studies by George Gerbner, at the University of Pennsylvania
10. Sense -- Vision
Huesmann's research states that young
girls who often watched shows featuring
aggressive heroines in the 1970s, have
grown up to be more aggressive adults
involved in more confrontations, shoving
matches, choking and knife fights than
women who had watched few or none
of these shows.
Research by Prof. Rowell Huesmann, Psychologist Aggression
Research Group
11. Sense -- Vision
In the early seventies, researchers from the
University of British Columbia compared the
levels of aggression in first and second
graders from two Canadian towns, one with
access to TV and one, due to a mountain
range, with no TV access.
When the mountain town finally received
television, the hitting, biting, and shoving
levels of the children increased by 160
percent.
12. Sense -- Vision
University of Michigan psychologists embarked on a
landmark study of over 800 eight-year-olds. They found
that children who watched many hours of violent television
tended to be more aggressive in the playground and the
classroom.
They checked back with these students 11 and 22 years
later. They found that the aggressive eight-year-olds grew
up to become even more aggressive 19- and 30-year-
olds, with greater troubles-including domestic violence and
more traffic tickets-than their less aggressive counterparts
who did not watch as much television.
They found that watching violence on television is the
single factor most closely associated with aggressive
behavior -- more than poverty, race, or parental behavior.
13. Sense – Vision (Reading)
Oh, that the young would reflect upon the influence
which exciting stories have upon the mind! Can you,
after such reading, open the word of God and read the
words of life with interest? Do you not find the book of
God uninteresting?
The charm of that love story is upon the mind,
destroying its healthy tone and making it impossible for
you to fix your mind upon the important, solemn truths
which concern your eternal interest.
Children, I have a message for you. You are now
deciding your future destiny, and your character building
is of that kind which will exclude you from the Paradise
of God. . . . (Adventist Home, pg 416).
14. Sense -- Hearing
Ecclesiastes 1: 8
All things are full of labour;
man cannot utter it: the eye is
not satisfied with seeing, nor
the ear filled with hearing.
15. Sense -- Hearing
The introduction of music into their homes, instead of inciting to
holiness and spirituality, has been the means of diverting their
minds from the truth. Frivolous songs and the popular sheet
music of the day seem congenial to their taste.
The instruments of music have taken time which should have
been devoted to prayer.
Music, when not abused, is a great blessing; but when put to a
wrong use, it is a terrible curse. It excites, but does not impart
that strength and courage which the Christian can find only at
the throne of grace while humbly making known his wants and,
with strong cries and tears, pleading for heavenly strength to be
fortified against the powerful temptations of the evil one.
Satan is leading the young captive. Oh, what can I say to lead
them to break his power of infatuation! He is a skillful charmer
luring them on to perdition. { AH 407 .4}
16. Sense -- Hearing
A recent study concerned with adolescents‟ taste for
music found that teens who listen to music with
explicitly sexual lyrics have sex earlier than their
counterparts who prefer “demurer” rhythms and
tones.
It does not matter the music genre teenagers listen
to. It may be dance, hip-hop, rap, rock or pop. All that
matters is the message comprised in the song‟s
lyrics. Researchers found that the lyrics influence
teenagers‟ sexual behavior and enhance their desire
for starting their sex life as soon as possible.

Teens who spend more time watching the sex and violence
depicted in the “reel” life of “gangsta” rap music videos are more
likely to practice these behaviors in real life, suggests one of the
first studies to specifically explore how rap videos influence
emotional and physical health.
After studying 522 black girls between the ages of 14 and 18 from
non-urban, lower socio-economic neighborhoods, researchers
found that compared to those who never or rarely watched these
videos, the girls who viewed these gangsta videos for at least 14
hours per week were far more likely to practice numerous
destructive behaviors.
Over the course of the one-year study, they were:
– Three times more likely to hit a teacher
– Over 2.5 times more likely to get arrested
– Twice as likely to have multiple sexual partners
– 1.5 times more likely to get a sexually transmitted disease,
use drugs, or drink alcohol.

Psalms 42: 1-2
[1] As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so
panteth my soul after thee, O God.
[2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when
shall I come and appear before God?
Proverbs 23: 1-3
[1] When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider
diligently what is before thee:
[2] And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given
to appetite.
[3] Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful
meat.

Genesis 1: 29-30
[29] And God said, Behold, I have given you
every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face
of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is
the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be
for meat.
[30] And to every beast of the earth, and to
every fowl of the air, and to every thing that
creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I
have given every green herb for meat: and it
was so.

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree
was good for food, and that it was
pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be
desired to make one wise, she took of the
fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also
unto her husband with her; and he did
eat.
21. Sense – Smell & Taste
Those who eat flesh are but eating grains and vegetables at
second hand; for the animal receives from these things the nutrition
that produces growth. The life that was in the grains and
vegetables passes into the eater. We receive it by eating the flesh
of the animal. How much better to get it direct, by eating the food
that God provided for our use!
Flesh was never the best food; but its use is now doubly
objectionable, since disease in animals is so rapidly increasing.
Those who use flesh foods little know what they are eating. Often if
they could see the animals when living and know the quality of the
meat they eat, they would turn from it with loathing. People are
continually eating flesh that is filled with tuberculosis and
cancerous germs. Tuberculosis, cancer, and other fatal diseases
are thus communicated.

22. Sense – Smell & Taste
The effects of a flesh diet may not be
immediately realized; but this is no evidence
that it is not harmful. Few can be made to
believe that it is the meat they have eaten which
has poisoned their blood and caused their
suffering. Many die of diseases wholly due to
meat eating, while the real cause is not
suspected by themselves or by others.

One study in the 1990s was the South Cumbria
Alternative Sentencing Option, which achieved
spectacular results by changing the diets of
troublesome young people.
Its scientific advisor, chemistry professor Derek Bryce-
Smith, was emphatic that defective diets actually altered
the chemistry of the brain and could cause loss of
control. „Contrary to what is taught in medical school,‟
he said, „severe dietary deficiencies exist widely among
the general population, and these factors particularly
influence brain function.‟

After 50 years of intensive farming, in which traditional
farming methods have been largely replaced by
monoculture and reliance on chemicals, there has been
a steady decline in the nutrient content of soil and the
food grown in it.
One of the major losses is zinc, which is crucial for good
brain function. Professor Bryce-Smith says the
widespread use of phosphate fertilizers hinders uptake
of zinc from the soil. Zinc deficiency produces
behavioral problems such as moodiness, tantrums, and
learning difficulties.
It also reduces our ability to metabolize sugar properly
and can impair taste, making sugary, salty flavors
preferable to healthy food

Sally Bunday‟s five- year-old son, who constantly cried,
screamed, head-banged and had generally unbearable
behavior plus what seemed like perpetual severe
catarrh. A psychiatrist and a mental hospital had
prescribed various drugs, which hadn‟t worked.
Then a friend told her about Dr Ben Feingold, an
American child health specialist who believed that
certain foods could cause bad behavior. (Other
researchers had made similar findings.) Desperate,
Sally threw out every processed food and provided only
whole, fresh, home-cooked food. In four days her son
was better.
26. Sense -- Touch
Genesis 3: 3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither
shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Job 6: 7
The things that my soul refused to touch are as my
sorrowful meat.
27. Sense -- Touch
Sensuality is the sin of the age. But the religion of Jesus Christ
will hold the lines of control over every species or unlawful liberty:
the moral powers will hold the lines of control over every thought,
word, and action. {LYL 63.4}
Every unholy passion must be kept under the control of
sanctified reason through the grace abundantly bestowed of God in
every emergency. But let no arrangement be made to create an
emergency, let there be no voluntary act to place one where he will
be assailed with temptation, or give the least occasion for others to
think him guilty of indiscretion. {LYL 64.1}
As long as life shall last, there is need of guarding the affections
and the passions with a firm purpose. There is inward corruption,
there are outward temptations, and wherever the work of God shall
be advanced, Satan plans so to arrange circumstances that
temptation shall come with overpowering force upon the soul. Not
one moment can we be secure only as we are relying upon God,
the life hid with Christ in God. {LYL 64.2}

– Passionate Words a Species of Swearing.--
Among the members of many families there is
practiced the habit of saying loose, careless
things; and the habit of tantalizing, of speaking
harsh words, becomes stronger and stronger as it
is indulged, and thus many objectionable words
are spoken that are after Satan's order and not
after the order of God. . . . Burning words of
passion should never be spoken, for in the sight of
God and holy angels they are as a species of
swearing. {AH 439.3}

– Gossip and Tale-bearing.--We think with horror of the
cannibal who feasts on the still warm and trembling flesh of
his victim; but are the results of even this practice more
terrible than are the agony and ruin caused by
misrepresenting motive, blackening reputation, dissecting
character? Let the children, and the youth as well, learn what
God says about these things: "Death and life are in the
power of the tongue." {AH 440.5}
– The spirit of gossip and tale-bearing is one of Satan's special
agencies to sow discord and strife, to separate friends, and
to undermine the faith of many in the truthfulness of our
positions. {AH 441.1}

the Soul
Romans 12: 1
[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
1 Corinthians 3: 16-17
[16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that
the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
[17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God
destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye
are.
31. Guard the Avenues of
the Soul
1 Corinthians 6: 19-20
[19] What? know ye not that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which
ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore
glorify God in your body, and in your spirit,
which are God's.
