3. IQ is a measure of logical reasoning or
how intelligent someone is, found from
some exclusive particular test. IQ tests are
typically thought to assess specific types of
intelligence. Intelligence quotients are
definitely useful and can be instrumental in
clinical practice and education, but it is
important to remember what such tests are
and aren't good for. An IQ score tells a story
but not always the whole story (One Health
Central, 2022).

intelligence and self-perception among Laboratory School
Students of Iloilo Science and Technology University.

9. Definition of Terms
Intelligence.
In this study, intelligence is the ability of the respondents capacity to
plan, reason, solve problems, use logic, think abstractly, absorb complex
ideas, and learn rapidly.
IQ.
In this study, IQ refers to the respondents’ average level of intelligence
as determined by the given IQ test which includes spatial recognition,
short-term memory, mathematical ability, analytical thinking, and logical
reasoning.

Self-perception.
In this study, self-perception is how the respondents view themselves in
terms of physical and mental capabilities, as well as average IQ level. This is
concerned with their own strengths and shortcomings and is based on a
subject's judgments of many elements of their own personality, appearance,
acts, and activity outcomes.
Students.
In this study, students refer to the study’s respondents which are the
grade 9 Laboratory School students who are enrolled in Iloilo Science and
Technology University during the academic year 2022-2023

12. Scope and Limitations of the Study
This descriptive-correlational study aims to determine the average
level of intelligence among laboratory school students of Iloilo
Science and Technology University and to discover if there is a
significant relationship between the IQ level and self-perception of
the students during the academic year 2022-2023. The
respondents of this study are 60 grade 9 students, 30 per section,
who are enrolled in the university for this academic year.
The researcher will provide a ready-made IQ test with the
contents of spatial recognition, short-term memory, mathematical
ability, analytical thinking, and logical reasoning.
13. Research Design
This study will make use of a descriptive-correlational research
design. Descriptive correlational design is used in research studies
that aim to provide static pictures of situations as well as establish the
relationship between different variables (McBurney & White, 2009).
This study will be using survey-type descriptive-correlational
research since it aims to determine the average level of intelligence of
Laboratory School students at Iloilo Science and Technology
University during the Academic Year 2022-2023 and to discern how
IQ influences their self-perception.
