INFLUENTIAL ART FROM THE
2000’S
Jonny Cash’s Hurt was released in 2003. Cash was an American
Icon. This song was wrote just before his death and it seemed
to encompass Cash’s look on his life of the time he was in. The
song was originallywrote by Trent Reznor of “Nine Inch Nails”.
Cash never told why he covered the song, but to many people
it was his last farewell. At the 2003 VMA’sJustin Timberlake
even dedicatedhis award for best male video to Cash. The
song will alwaysbe known as one of Cash’s best works, and
the associationof the song and his death is an important part
of the 2000’s.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” the movie by Peter
Jackson, based on the book by J.R.R Tolkien, was made in 2003. The
movie is the final closing piece to the Lord of the Rings (LotR)
trilogy. The trilogy will stand as a great piece of film for the
decades. Lord of the Rings was a huge trademark item.
Merchandise was sold all over the United States. The main thing
that the Lord of the Rings movies did was show that consumers
would sit through a three plus hour movie if it was good. There
were very few movies before this trilogy that had crossed the three
hour mark. The movies have recently been revisited by the director
Peter Jackson making “The Hobbit” movies. Also the movies have
spurred off a video game franchise that started in the 2000’s and
still continue to be made.

 Created by Shepard Fairey
 Red, white, and blue shows patriotism
 Vibrant colors contrast and appealthe eye
 New face to the public
 First ethnic role in history
This poster shows a new era of a potentialpresident and it’s a call
to society to be different and try new things. This was a poster
designed to tell the publicto not just vote for another old 65 year
old white male, however to instead vote for Obama. This is a
milestone in history for the American public as to try change and
they way they are to be influencedwas partiallyby this poster. The
artist also gave the runner for president a stern and powerful look
which delivers a powerful statement as to who Barack Obama
really is and what his intentionswere.
 Doesn’t use much comedy
 Always intense scenes
 Shows the ironic bond between ex student and teacher
 Shows aguish between families
 Overall sad show
This show is one that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. It
is a thrill seeker and a modern day theme and shows the life of a
man who is doing a risking business and how it affects him, his
family, and his friends. Thisshow also speaks emotionallyto the
viewer and lets the viewer experience some moral questionsthat
the actors are portraying.
