It also shows their takings. It shows that the scream sequel has been the most popular slasher film. Making $103,046,663. the first film made more than the second and the second made a lot more than the last, this shows that the audience are getting bored of the sequel.
Through the years horror films have changed increasingly, the music, sound, camera, effects, costumes and many more have changed and become more modern with new technology even though we can do a lot more with horror movies today, people still prefer the older original horror films.
Horror movies are more popular with males even though female people do like them to.
What is wrong with modern day horror movies?
http://www.helium.com/knowledge/202370-what-is-wrong-with-modern-day-horror-movies
Some peoples views on modern day horror films
The music is ominous; suggesting something bad is about to happen. A woman is swimming in inky black water on a poorly lit night and even though we know it's coming, we still jump when the she is suddenly yanked across the water.
It's like throwing a wrench right in the middle of an engine while it’s running with vigor: Someone has messed this all up. And I'm sick and tired of people, who know nothing about the art of horror or the business.
Modern horror movies have me screaming at the telly at 1000 decibels, not because I'm terrified no because the actors and actresses seem to do one stupid thing after another. Oh fear I've heard a strange noise coming from downstairs.
These are all sourced of the helium website and they show different peoples opinions on horror movies, modern day horror movies.
Traditional Horror Movies
Traditional horror movies seem to be set in normally places like graveyards. Haunted houses, dark streets etc. people like this type of thing as it is the first kind of scary films they will have seen so its what people are use to, they are normally dark and the music is very weird. Where as today we have better equipment and better actors to make things better.
Audiences seem to like these traditional movies better too when you look at the table.
Horror Films like scream would normally appeal to the younger generation 18 – 26 as they have younger actors and a younger theme.
Most horror films are rated 18 because of the theme, some horrors are rated only a 15 if they aren’t as bad. Horror films don’t just consist of strong horror as it tells you on the box; they include strong gore, sex and nudity. There wasn’t as much of this in the traditional horror films as there is today in the modern day horrors.
