Over 40 churches in Newcastle supported local communities during the outbreak by providing vaccination centers, distributing health information flyers, and raising awareness. Organizations like Action Foundation Agency, Becon Agency, and Connecting Voice Agency also supported churches' relief efforts by providing supplies like hand sanitizers, food banks, and accommodations for vaccination centers.

2. Introduction
• My name is Rugie Saccoh and today,
we will be talking about monkey pox
diseases in Kenton by sea Newcastle,
England.
• The efforts made by churches to
support the local communities in
Kenton will be discussed.
• Also, the efforts made by different
organisations and agencies to
support the churches in the
eradication of monkey pox will be
discussed.
3. What is Monkey pox?
• Monkey pox is a viral disease which rare whose
symptoms are similar to those of smallpox.
• The disease occurs mostly in the regions of West
Africa tropical rainforests. In 1970, Human monkey
pox was identified for the first time in human beings
in the Democratic Republic of Congo in a young boy
after smallpox had been eliminated (Reynolds &
Damon, 2012).
• It is after that time when the majority of cases were
reported in the democratic republic of Congo and in
the year 1997 there was a major outbreak of the
disease.
• The diseases were reported in the united states
America in the year 2003 and most of patients was
reported to have had conduct with pet animals such
as dogs infected by the rodents imported from Africa.
4. Mode of transmission of
Monkey pox
• The virus of the monkey can be transmitted through the bites from
animals to human beings or through direct conduct from the blood
of infected animal or person.
• Most of the cases are zoonotic and mostly occur after contact with
an animal infected by the virus although human to human
transmission has been witnessed.
• Human to human transmission is usually through the contact of the
skin of an individual infected and the skin of an individual's who are
not infected
• (Reynolds & Damon, 2012). The virus may also be transmitted
through injection of tissues which are infected.
• The animals which are connected to the transmission of the virus
include nonhuman primates, squirrels and rodents.
5. Churches support and volunteers during Monkey
pox outbreak in Newcastle
• More than 40 Church of England parishes in
Newcastle are estimated to have stepped up their
support to local communities in the face of rising
levels of transmission and cases.
• Church volunteers have carried out a range of
tasks from providing vaccination centres and
distributing flyers/leaflets as well as creating
awareness through other means to inform the
local communities regarding the outbreak
according to a report by the Church of England
and Church Urban Fund in Newcastle.
• Our organisations work with churches in Kenton
by sea to support victims of the outbreak.
• We support them by providing the communities
with hand-gel, sanitizers and other disinfectants
to reduce the rate of transmission in the
communities.
6. Agencies supporting churches in Kenton,
Newcastle
During the Monkey pox outbreak, several agencies
supported churches in their charity work to support
the local communities to overcome the challenges
posed by the outbreak. Some of these organisation
and their supports are;
Action foundation Agency
• Gardening projects, ‘phone buddies’, job-hunting
support, and helping people to get online were
among a series of innovative services provided by
Action Foundation Agency for people suffering
from the social and economic effects of the
outbreak in Kenton by sea community, Newcastle.
• Supporting the victims with personal care as well
as ensure that the vaccination centre clean at all
times by sterilizing the environment.
7. Becon Agency
• Food provision and counselling support were
by far the biggest area of support provided by
Becon Agency to the communities in Kenton
by sea Newcastle.
• Becon Agency provided food bank or other
similar services such as food clubs and hot
meals to enable volunteer churches meet the
daily needs of people within the local
communities in Kenton by Sea Newcastle
• The agency also open several food banks with
volunteer churches for the first time in
response to the economic fallout of the
pandemic in Newcastle.
• Supporting the communities with personal
protective equipment (PPE) for the population
against the virus
8. Connecting Voice Agency
• Connecting Voice agency provided large sized
accommodation and well-ventilated buildings
for churches and these buildings were used by
local communities for vaccinations
• In many cases these buildings provided by
Connecting Voice Agency became symbols of
hope, the report notes, and were adorned with
flags, posters and artwork as a “form of visual
outreach and encouragement” to local
communities in Kenton by Sea, Newcastle.
