Debbie Ibiyemi gives tips for grooming a healthy baby's skin. She explains that a baby's skin is more sensitive than an adult's. Products containing steroids like Funbact A and Skineal should be avoided as they can be absorbed and cause health issues in babies like growth problems. Herbal baths using neem or bitter leaf are recommended instead. Pure coconut or palm kernel oil can be used, infused with herbs. Homemade bitter leaf black soap is also suggested for babies over 1 year old. Mothers are encouraged to ask questions.

2. • Good evening blessed mothers, I am more than excited to be here this evening
• My name is Debbie Ibiyemi, a certified esthetician, a skin business coach, founder of
skin business bootcamp (a facebook community of skincare professionals) and school
director at the skin business school
• Today, I would be talking to us about grooming a healthy baby’s skin

3. • As mothers, it is natural for us to want to learn how to create or maintain a glowing
and very healthy skin for our babies and this could be a daunting task if we at any
point in time do not know what to do
• This topic is very wide and so I would do a brief introduction to point us in the
direction we should go and then give rooms for specific questions so that we can solve
personal issues

4. WHY IS A BABY’S SKIN DIFFERENT?
• This is because the skin of a baby can be defined with one word- sensitive. By sensitive,
I mean that products used by adults without any adverse reactions could and most
likely would disrupt the health of a baby’s skin now or in the future

5. • The first product I want to talk about is the mothers who mix skineal, funbact A and co
with shea butter to make their baby’s skin glow.
• The active in those tubes are generally called steroids and these steroids, apart from
damaging the skin, gets absorbed into the body system to cause more harm.

6. INFANTS, BECAUSE THE TOPMOST LAYER OF THEIR SKIN IS NOT YET VERY STRONG,
THEY TEND TO ABSORB THESE STEROIDS FASTER AND IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT
THESE ABSORPTION CAN CAUSE THE FOLLOWING
• Growth retardation in infants and
children. So you will start to notice that
the child has some deficiency in the
development of some areas of their
body, sometimes it could be their
brain function. Inability to think or act
their age
• Severe disseminated cytomegalovirus
infection resulting in death in infants

7. • We will stop at these two for now. The scary part is that the medical system in Nigeria
is not a very thorough one and so many children have died, are dying and are
presently experiencing health challenges as a result of these act and their parents are
not even aware that they are the cause, they keep asking God where he is.
• Please note that unless prescribed by your medical doctor (not a road side chemist).
Do not use funbact A, skineal and co on your children. If prescribed, do not exceed the
period of usage prescribed by your doctor.
• Another thing to note is that the true complexion of a baby does not fully reveal itself
until they are between the ages of 3 months and sometimes up to a year. This is the
average time it takes melanin to be fully distributed round the body so as mothers, let
us quit putting our kids and ourselves under unnecessary pressure by saying when my
baby was six months, he was very fair, now he is dark at age 1 what is wrong? Usually,
nothing is wrong and a dark baby is not less beautiful, on the contrary they are even
very beautiful especially when they glow

8. TO BRING THIS PRESENTATION TO A CLOSE, I WOULD LIKE
TO SHARE SOME TIPS WITH YOU THAT CAN REALLY GIVE
YOUR CHILDREN HEALTHY SKIN
• Give them herbal baths three times a week. I
suggest that you pound bitter leaf or neem
leaf (dogoyaro) and extract the water. Keep in
the fridge. On your herbal bath day, put a
milk tin full quantity of either of these herbs
in their bath water and bath them with it
• Use either of these for your children. Cold
pressed coconut oil (it is usually pure white
and solidifies when the weather is cold) or
cold pressed palm kernel oil ( it is usually
brown, not black and solidifies when the
weather is col, when it is solid it becomes
almost light brown in colour). You can infuse
either of these oils by adding one teaspoon
dried bitter leaf powder to 100 ml of the oil
for children with skin problems or add one
teaspoon camwood powder to 100 ml of oil
to maintain a glowing skin. Usually, after
adding the powders, shake the bottle daily for
4-6 weeks and then strain if you want to and
begin to apply on your baby
