2. Parenting is one to the hardest jobs
in the world. Being the parent of a
hyperactive child is even harder.
Such children do have as many
internal controls as other children.
Thus it is necessary to use special
methods to control the way they
act.
3. Scientists have found that most
actions good or bad are learned. We
often learn behaviour according to
what happen right after we do
something. If people told you they
liked the hat you wore, you would
likely to wear it more. If they told
you it looked bad, you would likely
wear it less. This is also true to
children.
4. Parents also teach children how to
behave by their reaction to the child’s
behaviour. Children also teach parents
how to behave by their responses to a
parent’s actions. If a child cries in a
store, his parents buy him candy. The
parent has taught the child that crying
will help him get candy. The child has
also taught the parent that buying candy
will help the child stop crying.
5. Except for the fact that most of the
way we act is learned, we don’t
have to know why behaviour occurs
in order to change it.
6. Punishment alone does not
work well for 3 reasons :-
Using a lot of punishment makes a child
more aggressive.
Punishment teaches a child what not to
do. It does not teach him what he should
do.
Most children do not admire to look up to
parents who use a lot of punishment.
7. There are some effective
methods to be applied for
improving a child’s behaviour
Life rewarding
Behavior charts
Time Out etc.
8. Parents of children who are well behaved
have been studied and it was found that
these parents use lot of rewards for good
behaviour.
