Greg moves on after
great life in Maleny
GREG Stevens has been an active
member of the Maleny community
for many years.
He was the chief executive
officer of Maleny Credit Union for
nearly three and a half years,
president of the Rotary Club of
Maleny for three years, vice
president of the Maleny Chamber
of Commerce for more than three
years, treasurer of Tiber
Productions Fund Ltd for two
years and a member of the Maleny
Business Network for two years.
And as he hangs up his hats and
embarks on a new journey,
starting Christmas Day with a trip
to China and United States, he said
he had enjoyed his time in town.
"It has been an interesting
journey for me and one that I have
enjoyed. There are many moments
that stand out for me, he said.
"In 2011 I was nominated for an
Australia Day Award, in the
Community Services Sector. There
were those other moments I
remember well, like supporting
and participating in the annual
Maleny Christmas Carols and the
Maleny Show.
"(Others include) bringing local
businesses together with the
chamber's bi-annual Hinterland
Connect functions, the annual
Street Christmas Carnival raising
funds for local charities, promoting
buy-local and lobbying local
government to increase parking ."
Mr Stevens said after 36 years in
banking he was looking forward to
a break.
"My last day with MCU is
officially December 26, but my last
working day is tomorrow. While I
am on leave we will determine our
next journey in life, where we will
live and what we will do," he said.
