Timothy Neufeld completed a practicum working at Aquatera, which operates both a water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant on the same site near Grande Prairie, Alberta. During the practicum, he shadowed experienced operators and gradually took on more responsibilities until he was fully operating both plants under supervision. The water treatment plant draws water from the Wapiti River, treats it through processes like coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration before disinfecting it with chlorine. The wastewater treatment plant uses an activated sludge biological nutrient removal process along with primary and secondary clarification to treat wastewater before returning it to the river. Operators monitor and adjust the treatment processes

2) To avoid fines, all floor drains must be covered, chemicals and waste disposed of properly, and hazardous waste production reduced according to NSW laws.
