Green computing
1. GREEN COMPUTING
I. Introduction:
Green computing is the environmentally
responsible use of computers and their resources
while maintaining the performance . It is the
study of designing ,manufacturing ,disposing
and using of computers servers and related
resources.
Green computing is used to improve computing
performance and reduce energy consumption.
Green computing and communications:
Green computing and communications plays a
role in every aspect of life and modern
information technology ,including services like
commerce ,banking, health etc.
For the efficiently use of green computing and
communication by reducing environmental and
social impact green computing is become a hot
topic in computer industry.
II. Background:
The first reflection of green computing was in
1992 when energy star program was launch.
Energy star implement to different products
which minimize the use of energy while
maximize the efficiency of products. It has
become a way of life for many organizations
but now it is not just the responsibility of big
organization but also small business and
individuals who has moral responsibility
towards their community.
As the idea grow green computing arise to cover
client solution, energy cost solution,
virtualization practice etc.
The popular group of green computing is tactical
instrumentalists. This group of green computing
uses the philosophy which says “save up costs
rather than save the environment. This concept
emerged naturally as businesses discover
themselves under pressure increase resources to
compete market value.
The main focus of movements of green
computing is on data centers today.
III. Particular problem:
Sustainability:
Green computing does not take the product
life cycle into consideration. product life
cycle , from production to operation to
recycle. green computing must focus on
product life cycle because it emphasize on
production and operation phases which
demonstrate what actions result in reduction
of carbon footprint for individual and
business computing under various
operational conditions and environments.
