Volos is a coastal port city in Thessaly, Greece situated halfway along the Greek mainland. It is the capital of the Magnesia regional unit. Volos is built on the area of the ancient cities of Demetrias, Modern Pagasae and Iolcos, the homeland of mythological hero Jason. To the west of Volos lie the Neolithic settlements of Dimini and Sesklo, with remains dating back as far as 6000 BC, representing some of the earliest examples of civilization in Europe. The students conducted a questionnaire about the sense of sight and found most respondents believe sight influences judgment and is connected to other senses, though first impressions may not always be correct.

The prevailing narrative in the web community hails empathy as a cure for much of what ails our modern digital spaces. Empathy seems a worthy tool for making our designs and interactive experiences more human, but used indiscriminately it may do more harm than good. To design experiences that fit the real lives of the people who use them, we need to take a critical look at our methods and make empathy the first step in a larger process.
Digital design has the power to permeate every moment in our lives. That power along with empathy, makes design a superpower.
We have to make an effort:
- Create awareness of our biases and challenge them
- Make a conscious decision to learn about other realities
- Develop and exercise our empathy
- Ask ourselves: Who have I excluded in my design?
