Founded in 1991, GRECO excelled in the trading of railway wagon consumables in Kenya and
gradually built up a reputation in the supply of locomotive engine parts, track materials and
track equipment.

RAILWAYS

3. GRECO is the chief provider of railway infrastructure procurement solutions in East Africa.
We have tendered for railway supply projects worth over USD 5 million with Rift Valley
Railways (RVR) since 2006, building on a solid prior relationship. Our technical expertise and
logistical insight in supplying and installing assorted railway materials is now sought by
national transport agencies of Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Our vast network of manufacturers at the forefront of the advancing industry enables us to
deliver an array of railway engineering and technology-based products. We can handle all
functional aspects of railway construction including train-on-ground communications
solutions with incorporated train signal systems.
GRECO’s competencies in railway projects extend across complex jobs in any difficult terrain
or environment. We have procured railway materials including steel sleepers, track fittings
and steel rails as well as General Electric (GE) locomotive spares and accessories (electrical
and mechanical) for RVR.
GRECO has also supplied the Ministry of Transport and Communication Channels Project
Based Unit Lubumbashi (UPL) with 780mt of steel coils (deformed bars) for concrete
sleepers and Armco culverts with fittings. For Uganda Railways Corporation, GRECO has
supplied similar materials worth USD 4.6 million collaborated with Tanzania Railways
Corporation on projects worth USD 5 million.
Additionally, we have supplied, installed and commissioned 60m3 oxygen gas (cryogenic)
plant valued at USD 353,000 to the Ministry of Transport and Communication Channels
Project Based Unit Lubumbashi (UPL).

PORTS & SHIPPING
We provide world-class expertise in locating, evaluating and installing technical equipment
such as port handling tools, rough terrain cranes, port tractors, trailers and firefighting
equipment. GRECO is currently looking to partner with Kenya Ferries and Kenya Ports
Authority to streamline ongoing port expansion and modernization project. We also provide
cargo handling equipment and shipping-based resources for ports in order to reduce traffic
congestion and enhance efficiency. Our company has supplied spare parts for SMB calm
buoys and custom-built mobile workshops to Tanzania Ports Authority. GRECO has also
commissioned a crane and tug boat at the port to provide an effective means of transport.

4. Our promise for quality after-sales services at GRECO includes comprehensive logistics
planning as well as troubleshooting on behalf of for our clients. We offer logistical solutions
across the board, providing all types of transportation equipment as required for the
delivery and storage of warehousing goods to containerized cargo.
We predominantly engage third-party contractors to lease out-of-gauge cargo or fleets of
prime movers, trucks, low loaders, flatbed trailers and lifting cranes. GRECO’s fully
maintained trailers are operated by highly qualified and trained drivers designed to present
unique transportation services at reduced costs whilst increasing investment value.

POWER SUPPLY
GRECO is currently active with Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited and Zanzibar
Electricity Corporation to supply and install electrical materials. We possess the technical
ability and manufacturer relationships to provide key resources in bringing electrical power
to remote areas all over Eastern Africa. We take charge in the area of power generation,
transmission lines and construction of substations, rural electrification and renewable
energy, cables, generators and transformers.
We outsource engineers, technicians and designers who have acquired broad knowledge
and experience in planning and implementing major construction projects in the power
sector. Our detail-oriented approach ensures that we install, construct and maintain high
and low voltage power lines adhering to client budgets and timelines.
Between 2012 and 2016, GRECO has worked with Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO) to
procure ACSR and Ariel bundled conductor cables.

INDUSTRY
With over 20 years’ experience in Eastern Africa, GRECO is in a unique position to offer
expert knowledge and cater to the economic and environmental requirements of all
industrial projects in the region. Our trusted distribution channels ensure the smooth
procurement and sale of industrial and engineering related equipments, sugar and beverage
machinery parts and transmission of gear boxes as well as safety equipment.
We collaborate with our clients from the project’s costing and personnel design stages up to
implementation of the engineering works, delivery and installation and beyond. Our

projects are executed successfully according to required standards and quality. After

5. PROJECTS
Ongoing/Upcoming Projects
In the year 2015-16, GRECO will supply mechanical accessories and parts for GE locomotives
bogies, strategic products for Hitachi electric traction motors and supply of running gear as
well as suspension and transmission shafts for tractors (trolleys) to the Ministry of Transport
and Communication Channels Project Based Unit Lubumbashi (UPL).
As part of our progression into the Ports & Shipping sector, our company intends to supply
and commission a crane and a tug boat to Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) at a cost of USD
2.14 million and USD 3.75 million respectively.
GRECO will also supply railway wagon spares and rail inspection car and 5x Motor Gang
trollies to DRC Congo and Kenya Railways respectively through World Bank support.
