The Golden Quadrilateral is a highway network connecting India's four largest metropolises: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. It also connects Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Surat. It’s the largest highway project in India, which was initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It’s the first phase of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP), and aims at building 5,846 km of four/six lane express highways.

Earthquake: the word itself feels disastrous. Though the earthquake has no direct effect on human being, but still it causes a plenty of life and property loss. The reason is earthquake tends to fail the various structures such as buildings, houses, bridges, roads etc. and this failure causes all losses. The following pictures shows some of the failure of structures due to earthquake. But please hold for a minute, in case of the following failed structures, it was possible to prevent the failure…… Because these structures are not failed only due to earthquake but because of failure of soil strata bellow the structure due to the earthquake. And if the soil was improved before construction the failure could be avoided.
This phenomenon of failure of soil strata during earthquake is called as the “Soil Liquefaction”. Liquefaction is responsible for extreme property damage & loss of life due to several variations in failure potential. Still the liquefaction is not given that much importance. In India during Bhuj Earthquake lots of structures are collapsed due to liquefaction itself. And there are many liquefaction prone areas are present in zone IV in India. That’s why liquefaction is very much important.
In this paper, the study of liquefaction is done with respect to its introduction, properties of soil in which the liquefaction may occurs, how exactly the liquefaction takes place, detailed Geotechnical Study of liquefaction which includes how to decide the liquefaction prone area, evaluation of liquefaction potential and the various old and recent remedial measures to avoid the liquefaction, along with software and Artificial Neural Network. So that one can become safe against Liquefaction.

Expressway plan
Expressways are high-speed, high-capacity roads that connect major cities and ports in India. They have controlled access and are divided to separate opposing traffic flows. Expressways allow for faster transportation than highways but also greater accident severity. New expressway projects are planned across India to expand the national expressway network to over 24,000 km by 2022, improving transportation infrastructure. Some of the major existing expressways discussed include the Mumbai-Pune, Agra-Lucknow, and Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressways.

- 1. On a Saturday evening Mr. Khanna was reminiscing his younger days while his eyes were glued to a bike show on television. Although he was enjoying the show with his son, Rohan, he had quit biking. Rather his old age made him quit.
- 2. You know Rohan, when I was your age, I used to go racing with my friends. Really dad?!? You never told me! In fact I almost lived on the roads. There wasn’t a single highway, where my bike and I hadn’t travelled
- 3. Wow! That’s like the whole country. How long did it take? From Mumbai to Chennai, from Kolkata to Delhi, we had cruised on them all.
- 4. Longer than what we planned. The bad roads came up with too many obstacles. At times we had to stop riding it and start walking with it.
- 5. Sometimes I wish, I could go back in time. Just to sit on my bike and cruise on those roads. One last time. Don’t worry dad, I will fulfil this dream of yours. I’ll take you out for another ride. Rohan wasted no time. He logged on to the net and started searching for various road maps. And that’s when he chanced upon the Golden Quadrilateral

- 7. The Golden Quadrilateral is a highway network connecting India's four largest metropolises: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. It also connects Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Surat. It’s the largest highway project in India, which was initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It’s the first phase of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP), and aims at building 5,846 km of four/six lane express highways.
