Janney Lockman of 36 Commuting Solutions and Project impACT leader
Paige Yungstrom at the October 1 kickoff event.
Baristas serving premium coffees kicked off the Go-Tober challenge with
a bang.
And the winner is...Key Equipment Finance
Key Equipment Finance (KEF) is proud to
announce its Superior, Colorado office is a winner
in the Go-Tober smart commuting challenge.
Hosted by Way to Go, a program of the Denver
Regional Council of Governments, Go-Tober
placed local businesses into three categories based
on numbers of employees and challenged them to
compete against one another to reduce their single-
occupancy commuting. KEF employees rallied to
the cause and logged more than 1,100 trips to win
their category.
A variety of incentives tempted participants to get
to work using bikes, walking, rail, buses, carpools,
or vanpools. Employees logged their trips online
for chances to win individual rewards as well as to
boost KEF in the contest’s rankings.
The Go-Tober effort was led by KEF’s Project impACT internal sustainability and wellness
committee, which organizes and promotes a variety of employee and community giving activities
throughout the year.
"These are things we encourage our employees to
do all of the time but we just amped it up a little,"
said Paige Yungstrom, who leads Project impACT.
"The great thing is that some new carpools were
established that have lasted beyond the contest."
Project impACT kicked off the challenge on
October 1 by partnering with 36 Commuting
Solutions, a nonprofit membership organization
that works to enhance mobility of commuters in the
area, to host a coffee cart and information booth.
Employees stopped by the booth to pick up a free
coffee of their choice and learn about options for
improving their daily commute.
The kick-off strategy worked, because nearly half
of KEF’s employees participated in the event by
walking, biking, carpooling or telecommuting in October. The reward for their labor is $10,000 in
