This document contains several Bible passages discussing what it means to be a Christian. The passages discuss being born again through God's word, having faith in Jesus Christ, obeying God and living holy lives. They emphasize loving others, adding virtues to your faith, and warn that Jesus will judge those who do not repent from sin. The overall message is that Christians should devote themselves to God through prayer, fellowship, obedience to his word, and good works.
1) When you become a Christian, you become Christ's messenger with a life message to share with others. This life message includes your testimony of how you came to faith, important life lessons God has taught you, your godly passions, and the good news of salvation.
2) Sharing your testimony and how Christ has made a difference in your life is an important part of your life message. It is also important to share the major life lessons you've learned and the passions God has shaped in you.
3) The ultimate aim of your life message is to share the good news of salvation - that through faith in Christ, God makes people right in his sight and reconciles them to himself.
The document discusses what it means for a Christian's heart to be God's home. It says that when a believer's heart is indwelt by the Holy Spirit at salvation, and they love and obey Jesus by keeping his commandments, the Father and Son will come to them and make their home in the believer. This brings the fullness of joy both in the present and forever when the believer is with God face-to-face in heaven. The document encourages applying this by living a sanctified life led by the Spirit so that the Trinity fully dwells within, bringing great joy to God, others, and oneself, and empowering believers to be witnesses for Christ.

This document discusses Jesus' teachings on marriage from the Gospel of Mark. It summarizes Jesus' response to the Pharisees testing him on divorce, where he reaffirms God's definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman. Jesus says God joins the married couple together and no one should separate them. The document urges Christians to stand up for God's definition of marriage in their own marriages and when facing opposition to traditional views of marriage.
The Difficult Doctrine of The Love of God (Sermon 7.28.19)hyped4jesus
This document discusses how modern culture often portrays God as only loving, but the Bible depicts Him as also holy and wrathful towards sin. It argues that while God's love is central to Christianity, His other attributes like holiness, sovereignty, and wrath are also important. The document uses several Bible passages like John 3:16, Romans 8:1, and 1 John 4:9-10 to show how God demonstrated His love through sending Jesus, while also maintaining His righteousness. It encourages readers to have a full, biblical understanding of God's character rather than a reduced version focused only on love.
The document discusses the Holy Spirit and how to receive Him. It describes the Holy Spirit as God who loves, comforts and empowers believers. It lists spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit gives, including wisdom, joy and power over sin and death. To receive the Holy Spirit, one must believe, ask God and receive by faith through prayer, as Jesus promised the Father would give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
TMIY - Becoming a Man after God's Own Heart - Week 25PDEI
This document outlines the key points from Session 25 of the program That Man is You. It discusses how encountering Jesus Christ can transform one's life. It then examines the story of the rich young man from the Gospel of Mark and outlines the seven covenants of That Man is You. It provides a spiritual plan of life incorporating daily, weekly and monthly practices. It emphasizes the importance of implementing this plan practically. The document stresses that authentic leadership comes from giving time to God, ascending the mind to God, and practicing God's presence. It shares one man's conversion process and emphasizes finding God within marriage and family life.
1) Witnessing is commanded by God and sharing the gospel message is urgent as people's lives and souls are at stake.
2) Christians have a responsibility to verbally declare the good news of salvation and not just rely on good works alone.
3) Witnessing is an act of worship that glorifies God and shows non-believers how wonderful he is.
TMIY - Becoming a Man after God's Own Heart - Week 26PDEI
This document provides an overview of a spiritual program focused on the life of King David and St. Joseph. It discusses how King David needed and received God's mercy, which transformed him into a man after God's own heart. It then explains that St. Joseph is the true man after God's heart that can guide men on their spiritual journey. The program involves three years of contemplation focused on becoming a man after God's own heart, the hidden face of Christ, and revelation of the Father. The second year will focus on Christian marriage and is presented as a light for the challenges of today.
1. Holiness is described as both a state or condition that Christians are in as well as a process of becoming more holy.
2. When a person becomes a Christian, they are made positionally holy but still have work to do in becoming practically holy as the process continues until fully realized in heaven.
3. Staying holy requires depending daily on God and avoiding sin, with a focus on sexual purity and living a clean life pleasing to God.
God has given believers a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This living hope is an inheritance in heaven that can never perish. Believers are protected by God's power as they wait for their salvation. Though they may face trials, their faith will be proven genuine and result in praise for Jesus Christ. Even though they have not seen Jesus, believers love him and find joy in their salvation, which is the goal of their faith.
The document discusses what makes a good servant based on two biblical examples. It says that Timothy served with a genuine interest in others' welfare, while Epaphroditus served unceasingly and did not want others to worry about him. It argues that both a good heart and good work are needed to be a good servant, and that servanthood must be desired and taught. It also warns of the risk of children of godly parents failing to follow their example due to neglect or bad influences.
TMIY - Becoming a Man after God's Own Heart - Week 17PDEI

It discusses the Parable of the Sower, explaining the four types of soil as orientations in the spiritual life and Satan's three fundamental temptations. The program includes daily exercises and sacrifices during Lent to evaluate one's relationship with God, self, and others. It aims to help men encounter God through practices like prayer, presence, and studying Scripture.
This document discusses holiness in the New Testament through four examples: as an event, process, state or condition, and quality. It explores biblical passages about believers being made holy by Christ and calls Christians to present their bodies as living sacrifices. The document contrasts seeing things imperfectly now with perfect clarity later, and says Scripture equips believers while abiding in Christ enables doing God's will, though nothing can be done without Him as He forms Christ in believers.
The document discusses how to have a blessed life in the new year. It recommends defining your dreams, writing them down, changing your mindset, recognizing what you currently have, and trusting the Lord with all your heart. Specifically, it encourages the reader to define their goals, commit their plans to God, transform their thinking, appreciate their present abilities and resources, and fully rely on God's guidance.
This document discusses the importance of living a focused life. It emphasizes focusing on (1) the right person - Jesus Christ, (2) the right prize - heavenly treasures rather than worldly possessions, and (3) the right people - other believers who are like-minded rather than those living worldly lifestyles. The document uses several biblical examples to illustrate each point and encourages believers to evaluate where their focus currently lies in their lives.
Paul argues that if Christ has not been raised from the dead, then Christian faith is meaningless. He says that preaching about Christ would be useless and faith in Christ would be in vain. Paul emphasizes that Christ was indeed raised as the firstfruits of those who belong to him, implying that all believers will be resurrected. He teaches that through the resurrection of Christ, believers can have assurance of salvation and victory over death.

The document outlines 7 steps to sustain joy based on a study of the Book of Philippians: 1) Maintain a positive Christ-like attitude, 2) Kill pride daily, 3) Develop a progressive value system focused on knowing Christ, 4) Pursue perpetual renewal, 5) Accept that perfection has not been attained, 6) Forget the past and move forward, 7) Pursue a goal greater than life on earth. It encourages developing a positive and healthy dissatisfaction with the present to continually progress towards knowing Christ more fully.
The document summarizes key discoveries from a spiritual journey over 10 years. It discusses King David's sins and their consequences, the four leadership roles of men, and St. Joseph as a just man, husband, and father. It describes the home at Nazareth as a paradise on earth and prototype for Christian families. It outlines evaluating one's spiritual life, designing a plan, resources, and community to continue the journey of building Nazareth in the heart. The focus is on individual formation and living the message through small groups and parishes with the goal of sending more laborers into the harvest.
Christian encounters Mr. Worldly-Wiseman who deceives Christian into believing he can find relief from his burden and salvation through following a way of works-based morality and good deeds rather than faith in Christ. Worldly-Wiseman questions Christian's interpretation of scripture and directs him to the Village of Morality, implying its citizens have lifted their burdens through their own efforts. However, Worldly-Wiseman actually promotes a false gospel of human wisdom and righteousness contrary to salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ.
This document discusses the problem of evil from both atheistic and Christian perspectives. It explores how atheism cannot provide an objective basis for morality if the universe is impersonal. It also examines how the Christian worldview can account for both human desires for goodness and laments over evil. The biblical view is that God allows suffering for reasons like glorifying himself, making people rely on him, and preparing them for tasks in heaven. While some events cannot be explained, God's purposes will eventually be known and he can be trusted.
This document discusses hungering and thirsting after righteousness. It begins by examining biblical passages about coming to God when thirsty and hungry. It then explores three kinds of spiritual thirst: the thirst of the empty soul, the dry soul, and the satisfied soul. Key points made include that righteousness is about having a right relationship with God and living as He intends, and that righteousness is possible through having the right heart orientation and seeking God's approval. The document argues that spiritual hunger is a sign of life, a gift from God, and that acting on hunger causes it to grow while ignoring it causes it to fade. It also notes that spiritual hunger works opposite to physical hunger, in that the more one is spiritually fed, the
This document provides an outline and summary of 2 Peter 1:1-11 from a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on November 6, 2016. The summary includes:
1. In the first 4 verses, Peter explains that through knowing Christ, believers have everything needed for life and godliness, including escaping corruption and partaking in God's divine nature.
2. Verses 5-11 outline 7 qualities (faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, love) that believers must actively pursue to supplement their faith and experience spiritual growth.
3. Pursuing these qualities will lead to effectiveness, assurance of salvation, and a "rich welcome"
Martin Luther argues that Christians can have assurance of their salvation based on three grounds: 1) The promises of Scripture that those who trust in Christ alone are saved. 2) The sanctifying work of the Spirit seen in the lives of believers. 3) The witness of the Spirit causing believers to cry "Abba, Father." Luther says this cry, though small, expresses the believer's knowledge that they are God's child through Christ. He urges believers to train their conscience to believe that God approves of them, despite doubts, based on Christ's righteousness.
1) Peter wrote his letter to encourage Christians experiencing persecution who were questioning if their faith was worth dying for.
2) Peter reminds them of the great wealth God has given believers - including a second birth, an undying hope through Christ's resurrection, and a guaranteed heavenly inheritance.
3) Peter emphasizes that through faith in Christ, believers have been rescued from sin and death through God's plan of salvation, which was a great mystery that even prophets did not fully understand.
This document discusses how Christians can measure spiritual growth and progress. It begins by noting that Christians often say they want to grow in Christ, be more like Jesus, and be more of what God wants them to be. It then asks how we can tell if we are growing and provides three key points for determining spiritual progress: 1) Having a worthy vision of maturity beyond just being a "nice guy", 2) Seeing recognizable exterior results like responsiveness to others, and 3) Experiencing growth that withstands real-life challenges outside a controlled environment.

The retreat aims to help participants discover the joy of giving by reigniting a sense of thankfulness, joy, and desire to give generously because of God's grace. It is fully privately funded so there is no pressure or appeals for donations. The retreat provides guidelines for discussions and sessions on topics like excelling in the grace of giving, developing a vision for sharing generosity, and reflecting on Bible passages about generosity. The overall goal is to encourage participants to seek God's kingdom first and put their hope in Him rather than wealth or material possessions.

John warns of deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus, and instructs the readers not to welcome or assist those who do not bring the true teaching.
This document summarizes a chapter from J.C. Ryle's book "Practical Religion" about zeal in religion. It discusses what true zeal is, when Christians should be zealous, and why it is good to be rightly zealous. True zeal is defined as having a burning desire to please God and advance his glory through any sacrifice. It warns that zeal must be according to knowledge of God and his word, not from wrong motives or false teachings. The chapter urges Christians to be zealous for their own spiritual growth, the salvation of souls, and fighting evil. It says zeal benefits one's soul, honors God, and is good for the church and world by leading to missions and caring

3) It poses the question of what would happen if the church and homes truly lived according to the teachings in Romans 12.
The Lord’s church in an Experience Driven CultureDon McClain
“The Lord’s church in an 'Experience Driven Culture'” - [John 6:60-69] - As churches decline in membership, they begin to compromise to sustain numbers - Many churches have adopted the "market driven" approach – i.e., Find out what people want and give it to them - WHAT EVER THAT IS! — Many churches of Christ are dondoinge the same things! Can the church fight apathy and materialism by feeding people's carnal appetites? Has the word of God lost it’s power & effectiveness? What should the churches response be to the populace and its increasing hunger for an “experience” & disinterest in the truth? - MP3 / PPT / KEYNOTE / PDF - 5/17/2015

The document discusses Jesus' Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20, where Jesus commands his followers to make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to obey all of Jesus' commands. It provides several biblical examples of teaching children about God, including passages from Deuteronomy and Acts. The overall message is about the importance of teaching others about Jesus' teachings and commands out of love for God and others.
The document summarizes a letter from Jeremiah to exiles in Babylon. It encourages the exiles to settle down, have families, and seek the prosperity of Babylon, as their exile will last 70 years. However, it warns against listening to false prophets, and promises that God will fulfill his plan to bring the exiles back to their homeland and give them hope for the future when they wholeheartedly seek him.
The document discusses themes of work, wealth, and laziness according to passages from Ecclesiastes and other books of the Bible. It provides several quotes on the importance of working hard with diligence and skill. One quote advises that money is not the answer to everything and to put one's hope in God instead of wealth. The document also contains quotes stating that laziness leads to problems and hardship, while diligent work is valuable.
The document discusses Ecclesiastes 9:1-9 and both the positive and negative effects of alcohol consumption. It notes that while alcohol can cause violence, poverty, and other negative effects if misused, it is also used for celebration in the Bible and in moderation in the Lord's Supper. The passage encourages enjoying life, food, wine, and one's wife within the meaningless days given under the sun.
The document discusses good leadership and obedience to authority. It provides several biblical passages that emphasize submitting to governing leaders as established by God. The passages advise obeying commands of kings and leaders to avoid harm. While people cannot control death, the wise will know proper procedures. Overall, the document encourages obeying leadership as appointed by God.
The document discusses passages from Ecclesiastes that provide words of wisdom. It notes that outsiders and young Christians see present-day Christianity as judgmental and hypocritical. Ecclesiastes advises avoiding extremes of being overly righteous or wicked. A story is told of a Pharisee praying proudly about himself compared to a tax collector who humbly asks for God's mercy. The passage discusses pursuing wisdom but its elusiveness, and how God made humanity upright though people pursue many schemes. It ends discussing reconciliation through Christ.
A life of wisdom vs. folly.
The importance of character
Lessons learned in the house of mourning.
A wise person's response / rebuke.
A wise person's view of money.
Living with the end in mind.
The good old days?
The document discusses the biblical perspective on money and wealth. It notes that Jesus spoke more about money than any other subject, with many parables related to handling finances. While money can help alleviate some concerns, it also brings worries in obtaining, keeping, using, abusing, and losing it. The document encourages being content with food and clothing rather than pursuing wealth. It suggests storing up heavenly treasures instead of earthly possessions that can be destroyed.
The document discusses Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 and focuses on the theme of listening rather than speaking hastily. It provides several quotes from the passage about guarding one's words before God, fulfilling vows made to God, and standing in awe of God rather than engaging in meaningless dreams and words. The wise person listens more than speaks.
Jesus asks his disciples who they say he is. Peter identifies him as the Messiah. Jesus then predicts his death and resurrection, but Peter rejects this idea. Jesus rebukes Peter, saying his perspective is merely human. The passage then outlines how Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day according to scripture, appearing to his disciples including Peter and over 500 others.
The last in a 6 week series on Romans 1-8, Larry Perkins overviews and digs into Romans 8, what it means for the believer and how it applies in our lives.
The document discusses petitionary prayer through multiple quotes and passages from religious figures and texts. It provides perspectives on God answering prayers, the type of life one lives impacting answered prayers, and praying for strength, understanding of Christ's love, and for God to do more than can be asked or imagined according to his power at work within.
The document summarizes the biblical story of the Magi following a star to visit the infant Jesus and bring him gifts. It then provides statistics about holiday spending in Canada and the United States, noting that Canadians will spend an estimated $18 billion total at Christmas while Americans will spend billions on various gifts and consumables. It closes by reflecting on how that money could be used to help provide clean water, education, and end hunger globally if directed to the right causes that help people.
Dave Barker shares a message on the Sabbath and its true meaning. The Sabbath was always intended as a shadow, and now that the real has come in Jesus, the shadow is no longer required.
The Book of Samuel is a book in the Hebrew Bible, found as two books in the Old Testament. The book is part of the Deuteronomistic history, a series of books that constitute a theological history of the Israelites and that aim to explain God's law for Israel under the guidance of the prophets.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Got Questions Part2 - If I Am A Christian, Why Am I Still So Unhappy?
1. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price
2. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price "All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end. The cause of some going to war, and of others avoiding it, is the same desire in both, attended with different views. The will never takes the least step but to this object". - Blaise Pascal
3. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price “ Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior” (Hab 3:17-19).
4. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price “ Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does- comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” - 1st John 2:13-15
5. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price "There once was in man a true happiness of which now remains to him only the mark and empty trace, which he in vain tries to fill from all his surroundings, seeking from things absent the help he does not obtain in things present. But these are all inadequate, because the infinite abyss can only be filled by an infinite and immutable object, that is to say, only by God himself". - Blaise Pascal
6. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price “ My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me the spring of living water, and have dug for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water”(Jer 2:13).
7. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price “ I think we’ve lost the knowledge that happiness is overrated, that in a way, life is overrate. We’ve lost somehow, a sense of mystery about us, about our purpose, our meaning and our role. Our ancestors believed in two worlds and understood this world to be the solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short one. We are the first generation of man that actually expected to find happiness here on earth, and our search for it has caused such unhappiness.
8. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price The reason? If you do not believe in another, higher world, if you believe in only the flat, material world around you, if you believe that this is your only chance for happiness, if that is what you believe, then you are not disappointed when the world does not give you a good measure of its riches- you are despairing” –Peggy Noona, speech writer for President Reagan
9. GOT QUESTIONS? Part II If I am A Christian Why Am I Still So Unhappy? Pastor Chris Price Do our minds continually dwell on all we think we lack? Do we focus on the black speck and ignore the entire white wall of blessing? Do we spend more time feeding our souls with the things of this world rather than the things of God? Are we putting to much hope in worldly things to bring us joy? Lastly, are we expecting more from this world in regards to happiness, and then the scriptures would encourage us to?
