Google plans to replace its current Silicon Valley headquarters, known as the Googleplex, with a new campus called Bay Shore in Mountain View, California. Bay Shore will feature soaring tent-like structures with translucent glass canopies under which will be modular sub-buildings that can be rearranged. The campus aims to minimize boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. It will provide bike and walking paths along with public shops and restaurants. The natural light and flexible workspaces are intended to promote collaboration among Google's employees while also helping the environment by reducing vehicle traffic and pollution. However, the project faces political challenges from the city of Mountain View which must approve it and is concerned about becoming overly dependent on a large tech company.
