•Google is an advanced search engine that searches the World Wide Web
•While other search engines rank results based on how many of each key words
appear on each webpage, Google looks at how many pages link back to the
original page, that have relevance to the topic
•On average, Google produces over 20 pb of data per day, which is equivalent to
5 billion songs on your iPod
•It is clear and efficient, with adds that relate to things you are searching
o For example: If you search local hotels, there will be other hotel advertisements listed
• They are constantly on the prowl, looking for other smaller companies to buy
• Google still uses PC components to make other software
3. FOUNDERS:
Larry Page and
Sergey
Brin
•Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google while they were Ph.D students at
Stanford University, California
•Phil Sargay was the first ever employee of Google
• The founders made sure they were surrounded with the best/brightest
employees
•Originally founded Google in garage
•Larry Page is the CEO of Google along with Sergey Brin, each of them being
worth roughly 30 billion dollars (USD) each.
•Both Sergey and Larry still work at Google and
plan on working their for their whole life

4. HISTORY
•Google was founded in 1998 and was a new cooperation
•Google was first created in a garage of a home, where one of the
employees lived
•The well-known search engine was first made out of normal PC
computer parts
•In 2009, Google opened up an office in Toronto, Ontario
•In October, 2000, Google first introduced online advertising

• A small company called “Regly” got bought and morphed into what is
now Google Docs
•August 19, 2004 was the first time that Google ever paid employees and
opened up headquarters

•Google is known as being an “All known empire.”
•The ultimate goal is to have a search engine with artificial intelligence
o For example, could give you an intelligent response, but doesn’t really think
for itself
•Their mission was and still is to have universal information on everything
o Google workers estimate it will be at least 300 years before they
completely reach their ultimate goal
• Google works to keep their staff healthy and happy.
o Workers have 20% of their time to do what they want
o Whiteboards are placed all over headquarters/offices to help with creativity
6. CONTROVERSY
•Google once was and still is being
accused of destroying newspaper.
Now, all you have to do is search
up a key word on Google and you
get thousands of results
Google actually has a news section
to the search engine so you can
search a specific type of document
It is free, unlike traditional
newspapers
•Google is still under controversy
on whether or not “Google Maps”
violates personal privacy
With Google Maps, you can see
detailed pictures of places
Sometimes people, license plate
numbers and other things are
captured onto Google Maps
