Launching in September 2020, Google Meet now offers controls for meeting hosts to let users join, block access, turn off screen sharing and chat, and prevent users from joining once the Meet has concluded.
2. Quick Access
Participants in the same domain
do not need to request to join
Participants joining by phone do
not need to request to join
Participants can dial-out from
within the meeting
When On:
All users must request to join the
meeting, unless they received a
Calendar invite. This includes
dialing in by phone
Only the host can dial-out from
within the meeting
When Off
(RECOMMENDED):

3. Best Practices
If you use Google
Classroom, enable
the Meet link for you
Classroom and make
it visible to students.
They will only be able
to join once you have
begun the meeting.
When you launch a Meet
at
https://meet.google.com,
be sure to use a
Nickname. This will
enable the Host Controls
and provide better
security for your Meet
Be sure that you, the
Host, are the last
person to leave the
Meet session. This
will prevent students
from rejoining the
Meet once it has
ended. You can see
how many people are
logged in at the top
right of your Meet
screen.
