Applications of Pythagoras Statement.
2. Introduction
• About 2,500 years ago., a Greek
mathematician named Pythagoras
discovered a special relationship
between the sides of right triangles.
• He realized that if we have a right angled
triangle then,
• If you square the two sides that make up
the right angle and add them together
you would get the same number as you
would get by squaring the other side.
3. Using Pythagoras theorem ,how to find hypotenuse of
a given right angled triangle.
• According to Pythagoras
theorem ,
• AB^2 +BC^2=AC^2
• Therefore,
• AC^2=3^2+4^2
• X^2=9+16
• ______
• X=/ 25
• X=5cm
4. Using Pythagoras theorem ,how to find third side of
a given right angled triangle.
• According to Pythagoras
theorem ,
• AB^2 +BC^2=AC^2
• Therefore,
• BC^2=AC^2-AB^2
• BC^2=5^2-3^2
• X^2=25-9

▪ Any set of three whole numbers that satisfies the Pythagorean theorem is
called a Pythagorean triplet.
▪ Pythagorean triplets are generally denoted in bracket of the form {a,b,c}.
▪ Examples of Pythagorean triplet include:-
