B.S. in Biology with Research Concentration and Minor in Philosophy
Where he is now: Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington D.C.
"Over the course of my time at Gonzaga I learned about how important it is to not just view patients as illnesses that need treating,
but to provide care to the whole person. I learned about how a real dedication to service often means a preferential option for the
poor and how this often means willingly fighting losing battles. After applying to medical school during the summer of 2012, I was
accepted to Georgetown, Creighton, and Saint Louis medical schools and ultimately chose to attend Georgetown. I think the key to
my success was the deeper understanding I gained of the medical profession over the last four years and I think a great deal of that
understanding is the result of the Jesuit education I received. The exposure I had to Jesuit values through my courses, professors,
and peers, helped me recognize the natural passion I had for focusing on patients as a whole and working with the underserved."
B.A. in History and Minor in Philosophy
Where he is now: Google, San Francisco, CA
"I'm the Head of Leadership Special Projects at Google and live in San Francisco. I spend most of my time researching markets with
a small team: we think about technologies, products, and the people leading them and make predictions about what will matter in
the future. We then go and meet with the leaders of the companies around the world and with analysts, think tanks, investors, and
academics to build a holistic perspective of the space we're researching. Because Google's strategic interests are so diverse, we're
constantly thinking about wildly different spaces. My Gonzaga education has been hugely instrumental during my time at Google.
Critical thinking, writing and argumentation skills, public speaking, and considering the whole person are aspects of the Gonzaga
core curriculum, Mission, and values that play into my job every day. The most complex - and complicated - aspects of even the
most sophisticated technologies are the people creating them. My Gonzaga education and what I've taken with me from Spokane
influence how I approach complex situations, and consider the people with whom I work."
B.A in Public Relations and Minor in Journalism
Where she is now: United Way, Salt Lake City, UT
"When I left Gonzaga, I was on a mission to change my community for the better. Armed with the College's emphasis on social
justice, empathy, critical thinking, and practical skills, I was ready to begin in-depth social change work. Upon my return to Utah, I
continued to build my skills at nonprofit organizations and completed a Master of Arts in Community Leadership degree from
Westminster College. While my undergraduate studies at Gonzaga taught me professional communication and organizational
skills, my graduate studies took those skills to the next level. I specialized in grassroots organizing and nonprofit management.
Armed with social change knowledge and experience, I took on the world of poverty at United Way of Salt Lake. We believe that
every child can be successful, regardless of their circumstances, and I work to make that vision a reality every day. I?ve been at the
organization for two and a half years, and I?ve never felt more fulfilled. I get the chance to have a positive impact on my
community every day, and I am forever indebted to Gonzaga for helping me discover my passion and turn my dreams into
realities."
SPENSERWILLIAMS,2010
B.S. in Math and Economics
Where he is now: Portland General Electric
"When I was very little I was taught that if I set goals to reach and always have a positive attitude, I would succeed
in life.My most recent success has been landing my current job as an analyst for the energy company Portland
General Electric (PGE). To get here I attended career fairs, mock interviews, social networking events and resume
reviews. This is where all the hard work was put into getting me prepared for getting a job after college was over.
Getting this job also took determination and a positive attitude; I was first rejected a dozen or more times. I even
was rejected by PGEfor other job postings. Now, I am in an industry I am passionate about and I am excited to see
where this career will lead me next."
