To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to write this recommendation on behalf of Ms. PaulaJones. Ms. Jones began
working forthe Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of News and
Communications in November of 2013 in a temporary role and workedinto a full-time
position as a Public Information Officer.
As the Assistant Vice Chancellor of News and Communications, I was able to follow Ms.
Jones’s performance from day one. As soon as she joined the team, it was clear that she was
a quick learner, demonstrated by her ability to pickup on our policies and her daily duties
in a very diligent and expedited manner. In fact, one of her first tasks was a projectfor me,
whichshe finished well beforethe due date and with great organization and enthusiasm.
As she continued to take on more work from both the department and myself, becoming a
part-time writer forour publications and carrying out miscellaneous duties on a daily basis,
she workedvery hard and progressed steadily, revealing her passion and enthusiasm for
public and media relations in the process. Her duties involvedmedia monitoring, answering
media calls, submitting press releases and writing articles forher hospital “beats”,media
relations, and other ad hoc duties.
Ms. Jones'stalents were always evident in her work. She displayed leadership abilities, the
ability to think creatively and logically, and the ability to work wellwith teams. She
consistently completed tasks assigned on time and without errors. She also developed
strong professional relationships with several members of local media, a key functionof our
department.
I therefore offermy recommendation of Ms. Paula Jones without reservation. Her firm
commitment to meeting goals and working as a team member made her a valuable asset to
us and, I know, willmake her a valuable asset to you as well. If you have any questions or
require further information, please do not hesitate to contactme.
Sincerely,
John Howser
