The document provides information from various sources about the Gospel of John, upcoming church events, Bible verses, and commentary on Philippians 2:5-8. It discusses how God revealed himself through creation, the Old Testament Scriptures, and supremely through Jesus Christ. It examines how the Word became flesh through the incarnation, dwelling among mankind, and the implications of Jesus emptying himself and taking on human form. The document emphasizes that God desires to dwell fully within believers as his temple.
The document examines evidence from the Bible to determine if Jesus can truly be considered the son of God. It presents several passages that refer to Israelites, David, and others as God's "son" in a metaphorical sense. It also questions the authority and teachings of Paul, who first identified Jesus as the son of God, noting ways in which Paul contradicted the teachings and example of Jesus. The document concludes that the Bible does not confirm Jesus as the literal son of God, and that Christianity embraced the teachings of Paul, who may have been an anti-Christ for distorting earlier monotheistic teachings.
This document contains several Bible verses that reference Jesus Christ or God as a rock. Some key references include:
- Deuteronomy 32:4 refers to God as a "rock" whose works are perfect and just.
- 1 Corinthians 10:4 says that Israelites drank from a spiritual rock that followed them, which was Christ.
- Matthew 16:18 has Jesus saying to Peter "you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church," indicating he will build the church upon Peter's confession of faith and the rock-like foundation of Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 3:16 and Ephesians 2:20 speak of believers being built upon the foundation of Christ and the apostles like
Paul agreed to follow Jewish customs to appease concerns that he was teaching against the Jewish law. He underwent purification rituals and offered sacrifices at the temple. However, this upset some Jews who started a riot, attacking Paul. Roman soldiers then arrested Paul to prevent him from being killed by the mob, as Jerusalem was in an uproar.
Matters of Expediency, Indifference, and FaithDoug Rice
The document discusses several biblical passages related to faith, expediency, indifference, and the church. It provides verses from Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, Acts, and 2 Thessalonians about faith coming from hearing God's word, receiving others in faith, the body of Christ being the church with Jesus as the head, and the gospel being the power of salvation. It emphasizes living by faith, the resurrection of Christ, baptism, and obeying the gospel to avoid eternal destruction.
This document provides an overview of the great controversy between God and Satan according to biblical prophecy. It describes how Satan rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven. It outlines how Satan deceived Adam and Eve, bringing sin into the world. The consequences of sin are separation from God and death. God's response was to send Jesus to save humanity. The document discusses Satan's ongoing war against God and humanity. It summarizes that there will be a final judgment where all will acknowledge Jesus as Lord, Satan and sinners will be destroyed, and God's faithful people will be with Him forever in a re-created world without sin or death.
Paul and Timothy write a letter to Christians in Philippi, including pastors and deacons, greeting them with grace and peace from God and Jesus Christ. Acts describes how God made all nations from one man to inhabit the earth. Paul warns that though there may be many teachers, there are not many fathers. Lydia, a seller of purple goods from Thyatira, was opened by the Lord to listen to Paul and was baptized with her household, inviting Paul and others to stay at her home.
Paul preached in the synagogues in Thessalonica for three weeks, explaining from the Scriptures that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. Some Jews were persuaded while others became jealous and stirred up crowds against Paul. Paul and Silas were then sent to Berea, where the people examined the Scriptures daily to evaluate Paul's message. Many Bereans believed after Paul's reasoned arguments from Scripture. However, when Jews from Thessalonica learned Paul was preaching in Berea, they also stirred up crowds there against him. So the believers sent Paul away to Athens for his safety.
The document discusses identifying the church that Jesus built. It notes that Jesus said he would build his church, but that people were not satisfied and made their own changes, resulting in many different churches today. To identify the true church, one must find it where the Bible says it began - in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost after Jesus' death and resurrection, when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles and 3000 souls were added to the church. Any church that began elsewhere or differently cannot be the church Jesus actually built.
The document discusses the relationship between the Mosaic Law and Christianity. It provides several key points:
1) The Mosaic Law was given to show that all people are sinful and fall short of God's standards, but it could not provide forgiveness or cleansing from sins.
2) Jesus fulfilled the purpose and requirements of the Mosaic Law. Christians are no longer bound to follow the Law but should live guided by the Holy Spirit.
3) While Jesus did not abolish the Law, its authority and purpose has been superseded by grace through faith in Christ. Believers are now called to live righteous lives guided by the Spirit rather than strict obedience to the Law.

This document compares Bible verses from the King James Version (KJV) to other versions like the New International Version (NIV) to highlight differences in wording and missing verses. It suggests that some Bible translations may have corrupted or changed the original meaning and questions whether some words have strayed from their inspired meaning. The document uses multiple examples to argue that certain verses have been altered or omitted in some modern translations.
The document summarizes the mission that Jesus gave to the 12 disciples when he first sent them out to preach. They were instructed to focus on the lost sheep of Israel and preach that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. They were given power to perform healings and exorcisms. Later, after Jesus' resurrection, the disciples continued preaching to wider audiences, including Gentiles. The document discusses the requirements for salvation during the tribulation period, noting it will involve both faith and works through obedience to God's commandments.
This document provides a warning about the abominations that will be seen in the end times before Jesus returns. It discusses how God's people must stand against false teachings and worldly influences in order to receive God's seal of protection during the time of trouble. It emphasizes living a holy, obedient life and preparing spiritually for what is coming upon the earth through greater conformity to Christ.

M2013 s52 salvation has been sent 8 18-13 sermonJames Bradshaw
The document discusses how salvation has been sent to all people through preaching. It references several Bible passages about how people desire to hear the word of God so they can have faith and be saved. Paul preached the kingdom of God for two years in Rome, teaching about Jesus from the Scriptures. While some were persuaded, others disbelieved. The document concludes that salvation from God has been sent to the Gentiles as promised in the Scriptures, with the hope of eternal life for all who believe.
The document discusses the meaning of "the day of Christ" referenced in several passages such as John 8:56 and Philippians. It argues that these passages refer to Christ's second coming, not his first, based on contextual clues. For example, Paul discusses "the day of Christ" as a future event. The document also examines related passages about the promises and blessings to Abraham and his seed, suggesting these will be fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom and eternity, not solely through individual salvation today.
Hadrian and Constantine were among the best Roman emperors. Hadrian rebuilt structures like the Pantheon and constructed Hadrian's Wall. Constantine reunited the empire under one ruler and founded Constantinople. Commodus, Nero, and Caligula were among the worst. Commodus was a megalomaniac who took no interest in governing. Nero was also a megalomaniac obsessed with the arts who was blamed for the great fire of Rome. Caligula thought he was a god and was vain, cruel, and possibly mentally ill.
Paul urges the Philippians to have humility and unity through the example of Christ. He recounts how Christ, though divine, humbled himself by becoming human and dying on the cross. Paul then gives examples of others exemplifying humility: Timothy serves others above himself; Epaphroditus risked his life to serve the Philippians and Paul. Paul wishes to send Timothy and Epaphroditus back to the Philippians to further encourage humility and unity.

Mapping media literacy to media education: a transferable methodology Julian McDougall
This document outlines a study that tested a methodology for assessing media literacy, education, and civic capability. The methodology involved a 3-stage process of survey profiling, critical analysis, and a creative civic engagement task. The study applied this methodology to students in a UK media studies class and found that while media studies students had a more developed vocabulary for discussing media, they were not inherently more critical or civically engaged. The document concludes by discussing how this methodology could be implemented across the EU to assess media literacy in different countries and cultures.
Original movie soundtracks are important for setting the atmosphere of a film. For horror movies in particular, the soundtrack needs a slow pace with unsettling sound effects to heighten tension. Successful horror movie scores, like those from the Silent Hill films, create a gloomy and despairing mood that enhances the story. Good soundtracks are also needed for other genres like love stories, action movies, and comedies to support the plot and characters. An engaging original score can make or break a movie by bringing it to life or leaving it feeling dry and lifeless without music.

This passage discusses a case of immorality among the Corinthians that was commonly known, involving a man having a sexual relationship with his father's wife. Paul says he has already judged this situation, though absent, and has decided to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved. The passage discusses excommunicating unrepentant sinning Christians from the local church, with the goal of bringing about repentance to save both flesh and spirit.
The document discusses passages from the Bible, specifically 2 Peter. It focuses on themes of knowledge, false prophets, remembering teachings, and the importance of being prepared for Jesus' return. Key points mentioned include warnings against false teachers, encouragement to grow in knowledge and faith, and the urgency of remembering biblical truths even after death.
Vatican archaeologists have uncovered what they say is the oldest known portrait of St. Paul. The 4th century oval portrait was found in the catacombs of St. Thecla near St. Paul's basilica in Rome. It depicts St. Paul with features matching later depictions, confirming the familiar image. The discovery was announced as an "extraordinary event" and adds new insight into the earliest depictions of St. Paul.
The document discusses God's unfolding plan through history as revealed in the Bible. It notes that the Old Testament contained prophecies that anticipated future fulfillment. However, certain mysteries about God's plan were not known even to the prophets, including the incarnation of Christ, the inclusion of Gentiles in God's plan, and the formation of the Church. These mysteries have now been revealed. The document argues that the prophecies and mysteries can be reconciled by interpreting the Old Testament prophecies literally while recognizing God has complementary purposes for Israel and the Church.
1) The document provides background information on the book of 1 John, including its author (John), purpose of writing (so readers may have full joy and not sin), and key themes (perseverance of the saints, nature of sin, sons of God).
2) It examines several passages in depth, explaining theological concepts like the neuter usage regarding Jesus, distinction between singular and plural references to sin, and definition of sin involving transgression of Mosaic law.
3) Passages about seeing God, deception, and idolatry are discussed in the context of warnings for believers during the end times tribulation period concerning taking the mark of the beast or swearing oaths to the antichrist.

This document provides guidance on preparing for and following up with people who make decisions to follow Christ after an evangelism event. It discusses praying for the hearts of those who will attend to be open, understanding different worldviews, clearly explaining the gospel, and mentoring new believers. Key points include praying to bind Satan's influence, having entry conversations to learn people's worldviews, explaining the biblical and historical context of the gospel message, and caring for new believers like nurturing children as described in 1 Thessalonians. The overall message is about spiritually preparing people's hearts beforehand and providing ongoing discipleship afterwards.

This document discusses what generous living means. It involves being generous with one's time, talents, and treasure. Generous living means not neglecting important matters like justice, mercy and faithfulness. It encourages setting aside money proportionally according to one's income to support God's people. True treasure is stored in heaven, not on earth, and one's heart will follow their treasure. The memory verse encourages remembering that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

The document discusses how Christians are the Israel of God and compares their journey to salvation to that of ancient Israel. It notes how Christians have been called out of darkness into God's light, made a holy nation through faith in Christ, and are fellow citizens with the saints. It then draws parallels between Israel's slavery in Egypt, redemption through the atoning sacrifice of the Passover lamb, deliverance through baptism, wandering as pilgrims guided by God, and entering the promised spiritual rest. The overarching message is that just as Israel was God's chosen people in the past, Christians are now the true Israel as God's holy nation.
1) Paul preached boldly in Lystra and Derbe despite being stoned, encouraging believers to remain strong in their faith through trials.
2) Paul and Barnabas returned to cities where they had previously preached to strengthen and encourage the disciples, reminding them that through tribulations they must enter God's kingdom.
3) They reported to the church that God had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles and that the gospel opens people's hearts when they hear and obey it.
The epistle of 2 Peter contains 3 chapters and 61 verses focusing on events of the last days. It was written to encourage the same readers as 1 Peter. Key points include that the last days will be characterized by apostasy, anarchy, and scoffers. The authority of Scripture is emphasized to combat confusion. Peter notes Jesus, not himself, is the rock of the church. He teaches that every believer is a priest and there is no need for religious hierarchy. Peter warns against tolerance of sin in the last days. The book references Paul's writings positively and says unstable people distort them. It also references Scripture being a surer foundation than visions or dreams. Overall, the letter exhorts believers to stand firm in
A study of who Jesus is according to the Old Testament and the New Testament. His life on this earth was short even though His goal was monumental, to seek and save that which was lost. He accomplished His goal by paying the price for our sins which we as sinners could not pay. Take a little time to learn about our Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ.

“The Kind of Preaching That Pleases God”Don McClain
This document examines what constitutes successful preaching according to God rather than popular measures. It profiles several preachers in the Bible like Noah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Jesus, Paul, Peter and Stephen. All faced opposition but faithfully proclaimed God's message of repentance, judgment for sin, and salvation through obedience. True preaching pleases God by upholding sound doctrine instead of popular fables and applies scriptural teachings to modern issues while opposing false teachings.
“The Nature of Saving FAITH” (2)— (Romans 3:19-5:5) In Romans 4 Paul is contrasting two opposing SYSTEMS, “FAITH & WORKS.” The “works” system cannot save a sinner because it demands perfection - and no amount of work can undo the sinners sin. The “Faith” system on the other hand implements forgiveness through Jesus thus providing justification on the grounds of God’s grace. Abraham was justified by the system of faith, not by the system of perfect Law keeping. But what kind of FAITH does the system of faith require? What KIND of FAITH did Abraham Have? - 2/26/2017

The Lord’s church in an Experience Driven CultureDon McClain
“The Lord’s church in an 'Experience Driven Culture'” - [John 6:60-69] - As churches decline in membership, they begin to compromise to sustain numbers - Many churches have adopted the "market driven" approach – i.e., Find out what people want and give it to them - WHAT EVER THAT IS! — Many churches of Christ are dondoinge the same things! What should the churches response be to the populace and its increasing hunger for an “experience” & disinterest in the truth? - MP3 / PPT / KEYNOTE / PDF - 5/17/2015
Saved Like Noah - [Baptism also now saves us … 1 Peter 3:18-22] Don McClain
The document discusses the relationship between Noah's salvation through the flood and baptism according to 1 Peter 3:18-22. It presents Noah's deliverance in the ark through the water of the flood as the type, and salvation through baptism by the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the antitype. Several sources are cited establishing Noah as saved by grace, faith, and obedience, and being physically delivered from God's judgment. Similarly, believers are saved by grace, faith, and obedience through baptism as the vehicle to access spiritual deliverance from judgment through Christ's resurrection. Baptism is described as an appeal to God for a cleansed conscience, not for ceremonial cleansing, and saves by contacting Christ's death and resurre

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

How to Stop a Divorce and Save Your Marriage: Divorce Spells That Really Work...
God's Building
1.
2. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NKJV)
1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to
spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in
Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid
food; for until now you were not able to receive it,
and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are
still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and
divisions among you, are you not carnal and
behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, "I
am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are
you not carnal?
3. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NKJV)
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but
ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord
gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but
God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who
plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God
who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and
he who waters are one, and each one will receive
his own reward according to his own labor.
9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's
field, you are God's building.
4. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NK JV)
10 According to the grace of God which was
given to me, as a wise master builder I have
laid the foundation, and another builds on it.
But let each one take heed how he builds on
it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay
than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation
with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay,
straw,
5. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NKJV)
13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day
will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire;
and the fire will test each one's work, of what
sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built
on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If
anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but
he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16
Do you not know that you are the temple of God
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
6. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NKJV)
17 Ifanyone defiles the temple of God, God will
destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which
temple you are. 18 Let no one deceive himself. If
anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let
him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For
the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own
craftiness"; 20 and again, "The LORD knows the
thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."
7. 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 (NKJV)
21 Thereforelet no one boast in men.
For all things are yours: 22 whether
Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the
world or life or death, or things
present or things to come--all are
yours. 23 And you are Christ's, and
Christ is God's.
