Deut 16
13 Celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for seven days
after you have gathered the produce of your
threshing floor and your winepress.
14 Be joyful at your festival—you, your sons and
daughters, your male and female servants, and the
Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows
who live in your towns.
19. Zech 14
8 On that day living water will flow out from
Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half
of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer
and in winter.
9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On
that day there will be one LORD, and his name the
only name.
20. Here Jesus is repeating the offer of
God the Father (Is 55:1):
"Come,
all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters"
21. Remember
What: Sojourn in the wilderness
God with them, God’s provision
living in tents around Jerusalem.
Who: Everyone invited - Gentiles as well!
Orphans, widows!
All come together.
Good to celebrate God’s goodness
Remember together
Who is invited – all, even the outsiders,
orphans and widows!
22. Who is he?
When people ask who is this Jesus,
don’t water it down!
23. Outcome of encounter with Jesus
“rivers of living water will flow from within them”
What comes out of us depends on what is in us
Holy Spirt gives living water
In Zambia clean water brings blessings - health, community and less work
The “water that comes out of us” does it;
- bring health and support to relationships?
- bring the community together and into contact with the living God?
- bring rest for your soul?
Some can choose to continue to go to the river to collect unclean water
but there is a cost!
