BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE
VV. 1-7
Only half the story.
They didn’t have the full picture.
Given the full picture, they responded!

THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED.
VV. 8-22
In the local synagogue for three months.
In the nearby lecture hall for two years.
Verse 10. All the Jews and Greeks heard the Word.
Verse 11, 12. God did remarkable things.

These miracles were seen - not just to bless people –
and certainly not just to amaze them – but to
authenticate or to validate the Word.

THE SPIRIT AND THE
WORD!
If we have the Word without the Spirit we
dry up.
If we have the Spirit without the Word we
blow up.
If we have the Spirit and the Word we grow
up.

IN THE NAME OF JESUS ……..
In the Name of Jesus whom Paul preaches I
command you to come out! Verses 13.
Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but
who are you? Verses 15.

IN THE NAME OF
JESUS
It is not a formula, a magic charm or a spell.
Elijah – the God of Israel, whom I serve. (1Kings 17)
Before whom I stand.
In the service of the Lord.
Not in our own name or authority.
That which is in line with his character and purposes.
