The giant panda is a black and white bear native to Asia and China. It has a typical bear body shape and size ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 meters long and weighing up to 160 kg for males and 75-125 kg for females. Its diet consists almost exclusively of bamboo. The giant panda is an endangered species primarily threatened by habitat loss and low birth rates, with population estimates varying widely from 1,000 to over 2,000 individuals living in the wild and in zoos worldwide. Conservation efforts are ongoing but the giant panda remains an endangered species.
