Ghazaros Aghayan was an Armenian writer, educator, folklorist, historian, linguist and public figure born in 1840 in what is now Georgia. He received an early education before working various jobs and joining Armenian cultural revival efforts in the 19th century. Aghayan managed the monthly Ararat from 1868-1870 and later taught in several Armenian schools while writing textbooks. He authored several novels, poems, memoirs and educational works before passing away in Tiflis in 1911 at the age of 71.
